Can't stay long, overslept and then found  a major banking error when I checked my account, so I'll just get things going and you guys can take over.....

We seemed to have lost some crew members!  Can't row this big old boat/barge with just a few of us. So....if you're floating in the river needing a life vest, we're here for you

So?  What's on your plate today?

Susan

  Breakfast--protein shake--my own concoction

  Snack--cheese stick--whole grain wheat thins

Lunch--fat free cottage cheese with blueberries

  Dinner--chicken sausage with something

  Snack--protein shake

My pouch has not been in a good mood lately.  This is the plan, however, I planned meals on Sunday too and then stuck to fluids and protein shakes all day.  So...
I will be so glad when this bad parathyroid is gone...maybe then my pouch will become happy again and I will be able to eat without distress!!!!

Have a great day Susan...watch those banks..they are such cheats lately!!!!!

Good morning Darlene...
at last check my vit D was around 49...I was told that was adequate.  I have since increased the amount of D3 I take...

over Christmas I had a sestamibi (ses ta mee bee) test (scan) done.  Parathyroid gland lower left showed up as malfunctioning.  the other 3 glands (according to the surgeon) are hibernating.  So Jan. 20th the bad one is being removed.  I have several of the symptoms of hyperparathyroidism ....high calcium...at last check my PTH was 100.

I'm off to see my PCP today...just a precaution to surgery next Wed.

  Mine is primary hyperparathyroidism.

I have secondary hypothroidism. When vit d is low your pth will be high. Your pth's function is to tell the body where to put the calcium, either in bones or muscles.

I am being treated by a nephrologist for my hypertension. I take hectoral and lots of blood pressure meds. My vit d has come up and my pth has come down. About 5 years ago I was being treated for all the parathroid stuff, all the x-rays, scans, etc. come to find out there were doing their job and nothing was wrong. The vit d can be tricky.....

I personally would try a vit d regimin to get the pth down before having parathroids out, but that's just me.....good luck, keep me posted.

Doctors have been investigating and messing with this since last May.  My calcium is not decreasing its actually increasing.  My PTH has not gone down...now don't tell my docs but right now I take about 10,000IUs of vit d per day.  My d is not low.  Its fine.  My ultra scan showed that the parathyroid is enlarged...it is right now a tumor (non cancerous I hope)...the high calcium is causing all kinds of problems with my blood pressure, heart palpitations, constipation, indigestion, edema, abdominal pain, trouble sleeping, depression and moodiness.  I've been to 2 endocrinologists.  One wants to wait and see..the other one says get it out.  My surgeon agrees...she believes its been bothering me for a long long time.  So ...surgery is scheduled.  Believe me I am not doing this on the spur of the moment.  Meds have not helped...as I said my vit d is fine...its the calcium and PTH that are high.  All my research says...its a malfunctioning parathyroid that has become like a tumor and the only relief is to remove it.
I'll let you know how I feel after the surgery.
REMEMEBER..mine is primary not secondary.  Research says primary means you have a gland that is not working properly.  No med will help the only cure is to remove it.

Thanks for your input tho...I love learning new things.
  Keep smiling..

HI Susan and everyone!

"Woman overboard!"

Just wanted to yell that. lol

Well I am sticking to my diet to a tee.  Not losing a pound.  Aggravating.  I must be at a stall.  That is ok, I will mix things up and I am sure the weight will come off. I just get anxious when the scale doesn't move.

B-  Proetein drink

L-  Cottage cheese and applesauce

Dinner- Salad and a habenero and cheese sausage.

Snacks?  Don't know.  Probably a food bar or jello

Thanks for keeping me on track!

Mary
