Welcome back, Shirley.  I'm very sorry to hear of the loss of your son.  Please accept my deepest sympathy.

LOL - I'm cold too since my RNY.  Last year this time I was wearing tee shirts to stay cool, this year I'm always bundled up - lol

Have a great day!

Debbie

Shirley,

Welcome back to this wonderfully supportive board, I've been a member here since July 07 and continue to come regularly as the people here are informed and supportive, have met a number of them at different get together's and everyone is real here!

Sorry about your loss and please continue to come back.

Best wishes, Laureen

Welcome back.  Not only is the weather just plain cold I am always cold as well.  Have any of you tried sild long johns.  They are wonderful.  Thin enough not to cause bulk under clothes but very warm.  You can order from wintersilks.com     I love their stuff.

Life is hard.  I am glad that you took time you needed to help with your healing.  I am sorry for your loss.

It is a scary thing to hear that you can run out of stored iron?  Did I get that right?  I was border line at my last appt any way.  I am just a yr out.  I actually just had my labs done and I go to the dr this Thurs.  I will get the results then.  Wish me luck.

Anyway, I too am glad for my job so I best get back to it.
My body does not define who I am but I am trying to define my body.  It  gets easier with every pound I drop.

Hey Sandy and all
Yes it is stored iron. They have to run a special test for this one.  I did learn that my being so cold all the time had to do with that.  Mine was at 5 and my doc wants it to be 220 so you can imagine .
Most people never know until it is way down.  I am on my second round of IV IRON therapy , each one is once a week 6 weeks long and the IV iron is induced for 2 hours each visit .
I cant believe how much warmer I am now , still not at peak yet but big difference.
I hav e my checkups and they run the standard bloodwork for RNY...It doesnt show the Ferratin levels though and a different b lood test has to be ran for this one .
Anyway , am on the mend..
Thanks so much for the kind words regarding my son. He was a disabled vet and lost him way before his time.
Still healing but with GOD's help , I will make it.
Wishing you luck Sandy on your bloodwork as well .
Hugs

Glad you found your way back to the OFF family.  We are really here for each other.  Mostly very supportive.  Take each day at a time, and remember, you can always vent on OFF.
I've always been borderline anemic.  I'm going to request that they check my ferriten levels the next time I have my labs done.  I always wore just t-shirts during our winters in Michigan, but now I wear cuddle duds under my sweatshirts!  It's almost nice to be cold like the 'normal' Michganders.
My new Miche bag just came in the mail so I've got to go open it!
Have a great day, and Welcome Back.
