OT: Misfortune at my house

Won't know how bad it is  until it thaws out.

Mary went home to let Pride out between the football games and found water pouring out the garage.  The washing machine was filling and not draining.  Who knows how long it had been going on.  Oleta was with her.  They turned off the water going to the washing machine.  Then they put the washing machine to spin to make it drain.  The water poured out the drain pipe.  Evidently it is frozen and will not take water because ice is blocking it.  I hope that is the problem.

Not sure what caused the washing machine to fill though.  It was not on.  Somehow, the water forced it's way through.  I guess something on the washing machine froze up and broke or something.  I don't know, and I am not mechanical.  Oh well, pray for me.

OOhh George!

What a mess that must be!

I understand that you've been experiencing some REAL winter issues there.  Obviously, building codes do not require the heavy insulation that we need here in Canada and you don't expect such cold there.  I'm sorry..hopefully you will be able to remedy this in a timely manner.

My son just came in from his Bouncer job at the club and then snowplowing and salting his clients...it is minus 18 degrees celcius here with a wind chill factor ten degrees colder yet.

Wanna move up here? *s*

ps...maybe Pride decided to surprise you with clean laundry...

Oh George what a mess.  Sorry this happend.   We had a flood in the basement last summer and lost a lot of things.  Pictures, memories and things that can not be replaced.  I am glad you didn't lose anything and it didn't back up into your house.

Keep up the good attitude... Will pray for you.

And no......I don't want to move to Canada.  It gets too cold here already.  I would die if it was any colder...lol

Good grief... what a mess man... bleeech

There is a valve that lets the water in, and it is controlled by an electical signal (of course) and when it freezes, it activates... i.e. the ice bridges the gap and makes the connection.

My truck's horn connection does this when it is cold enough, and I wake up to a blaring horn at 3am... lots of fun. I finally just took the fuse out and wont put it bac****il spring when all the freezing is done.

Sorry for your mess... gotta be the last thing you need eh...

I thought it might be something like that Marc.  I sure hope so.  Guess I will figure it out once it thaws out there.  Meanwhile.  It's off to the laundromat today.

Well, George we've had sorta the same issue, except mine was the water heater that rusted thru and my basement was flooded with over an inch of water.....have a new heater now and the "mess" is nicely cleaned up.   My washer is in my garage too, but I keep track of the temperature out there and run a small electric heater right next to the washer to make sure it doesn't freeze......what we don't do for clean clothes.

Hope you get things back to normal soon.....

ouch!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

What a bummer George.  Lucky that Mary and Oleta went home to let Pride out.  It maybe would have been worse.  I can't imagine getting the cold that we've been experiencing, when you're not used to it.  I guess the whole country is getting this freak weather.
I hope you can get the washer and pipes fixed quickly and reasonably.  I hope the sun shines on you today.
