Cheryl, you're a star in our eyes!  Good for you for getting out of that box. Isn't it wonderful what we are capable of doing now that we have better self esteem and confidence?

I'm with George, keep trying!

Oh, Susan, thanks so much....
I will prob do it again but will wait for a play not a musical! I think the next ones coming up are musicals.

Hi Cheryl!

Good for you.  I wish I was brave enough to do that!

Congratulations and I hope you get the part.

Thanks, Mary.
Not too sure about being brave, but kept thinking "I don't want to go to this play down the road and wish I would have tried!"
Take care,
Cheryl

Cheryl,
Good for you expanding your horizons.
If you don't get a part, you might consider working back stage on the crew, working in wardrobe or the ticket office. In Community Theater they always want people.
In some Community Theater's they make you "pay your dues" so to speak. Some want to see you get involved in the behind scenes before they even consider you for a part...unless your exceptional in the try out levels.

Can you tell I have been involved??LOL ...

My ex is the Stage Director in a large college that supports the arts. I always wanted to get involved in the Civic but he always told me to NOT TELL the theater who I was married to.

Since my divorce I've also considered trying out for musicals but right now I just don't have time.
Kudo's to you for trying out! I'm so proud of  you!! Keep trying out too!
You are spreading your wings and flying!! The whole world is yours for the taking.

Debbiejean,
Thanks for the support. I really don't expect to get a part I just really enjoyed jumping in and seeing what it was like to try out. It was fun and I really liked the feeling of conquering a fear.
You should go for it too!

As one who sits on the sidelines wanting to venture into the unknown I am MORE than a bit impressed. Cheryl, this is a BIG WOW! Congratulations. Who knows what this may lead to. Were you sweating bullets on stage? I know I would have been. My glasses would fog up so much and my rosacea would be brigtht red from nerves and I'd probably wet my pants! I can only imagine how impowered this must make you feel. You go girl!!

Hey Karen!
I really was only scared driving there and getting up in front. Sitting there watching the others try out was so fun and I even got the shivers when some of the really good actors spoke their parts! It was a true learning experience that I enjoyed every second of...seems weird...but I really really enjoyed the whole thing. So not what I expected.
Empowered...that was exactly the way I felt! I couldn't even sleep the adrenalin was so high!
Thanks and
Cheryl

Cheryl,

What an awesome experience to have, especially considering your statement about being shy. . .  If we can't grab life with both hands now, then I'm guessing we never will.

Congrats on doing something that is extraordinary for you!

Hugs, Laureen

Thanks, Laureen!

I think I have finally experienced that thing that I have heard others say about feeling more free or open to being myself or experiencing stuff after turning 50. It took a few years after 50 and I am sure it won't happen everyday, but it sure was fun last night!
I told my sis and a couple of close friends and they were flabbergasted! They could not believe I did it! I think hubby actually thought I had a shot at a part, I feel kinda bad for him. It's kinda neat that he thought I even had a chance.

Hugs back at ya!
