Merry Christmas Eve! What's New?

What little extended family we have are scattered so it's DH and I to ourselves, which is just fine with us. What folks forget is the 2 of us are our own family, no pity required!

DH got his H1N1 shot Monday and he isn't feeling very well. I'm going to hold off on dinner until tommorow. I'm still having a little pouch day so some soft warm food would be good for me as well.

I'd like to wish all my OFF family a very Merry Christmas. I hope you all have the kind of day that brings happiness to your soul. Thank you to you all for all the support, prayers and good vibes this past year. I could not have started this journey without all of you!

Hi all I am feeling really blue today! Not only is it because of the holidays but because I have a raging earache. It has been going on for about a week now. I got some sweet oil to heat and put in them. So I am sitting around with some in my left ear with cotton so I can't hear very well. So no Christmas Carols on the radio for me tonight. Going to my sister-in-laws tomorrow afternoon, taking chicken and noodles, so please pray it goes well there. Hopefully after the holidays I can get back to my old self. I am not sure that is better! Good luck Eileen and maybe you didn't do anything wrong, maybe it is just management. Well I probably won't be back on for along time so I hope you all have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hi All.
Christmas is here! We had our family Christmas yesterday at my daughter's house. It was her first time hosting. She worked so hard getting the house decorated (it's her first house- been living in it one year today). She stuffed a turkey and made everything to go with it (except for stuffing- I did that). Then as we all walked in (9 guests) she told me she had been cooking the turkey two hours at 175 degrees- uh oh!  She was confused- it still looked raw.... lol. POOR THING! So I heated up a ham and we had some Chinese food, ham and all the other stuff she had fixed. It was a wonderful Christmas! She and myself and DH will be having the turkey dinner tonight. We have presents to open and much to celebrate.
I'm so sorry to hear that many of you are going through trials... I always tell myself when times are hard- "If it doesn't kill me it will make me stronger." I do know that it feels like it will kill you when in the midst of it. Hang tough... I support you from afar!

I understand 'blue'.  I think more of us have that some will even admit.

I'm just so glad when it's over.  Starts for me in September and doesn't quit until after Valentines.  I've melted down so much this month, I could be a snowman in Mexico.

I went out in the snow (yes, here in Texas) today at 4 p.m. and got gift cards and stopped at Blockbuster and got movies. Had a bunch of Christmas sacks and some tissue paper and a box of microwave popcorn I got from the scout.  Got boxes of movie candy in the big boxes, put a slit in them and popped in the gift cards.  It's all about the candy this year.  Giving a sack of 'movie' night...for the gals, they get socks, popcorn, candy, bubble bath, and an old Taste of Home magazine.... I found them at a garage sale years ago and they are from 1996.  When they get into the candy they pick, they'll have either WalMart, Lowes, Bed Bath & Beyond gift cards.  Realized I should have stopped and gotten GameStop cards so the kids would have some, but parents who get WalMart cards can trade with their kids.

About a month ago I bought some musical instruments.  A piano horn, a penny whistle, a harmonica, a jaw harp, bells, and I can't remember what else... so we can have a band.

Oh, and I got 12 Santa hats.

I think probably next year, I'm going to have a DIL. He hasn't asked but I think it's coming. She's really a good fit for him.

Well, it's snowing in Texas. I'm already in my jammies but going to get dressed and go see if I can find some mischief to get into.  I need to cook.
