It;'s going to be a LONG afternoon/evening

Before RNY, I could chug a lug a drink and think nothing of it.   Now....heaven help me drinking this colon prep - it's going to be a LONG night.  Drinking my first glass now - only 7 more to go - ICK!  Wish me luck - lol

I don't envy you.  I hope the drink isn't too bad for you to get down.

I can't help wonder why they don't give WLS patients another method instead of drinking a gal of that nasty prep.  My mom had only 1 or 2 cups of something to drink....it totally emptied her out and she didn't have to keep drinking all that nasty stuff.

There is a series of pills that can be taken instead.  For some reason they don't offer it unless you ask.  When I had my last one, I told the doc I can't drink a gallon that quick, don't you have some kind of pill?  He said yes and gave me the prescription.  You take two pills with 8 ounces of water, 4 times (one quart total).

UGH! My hubby's doctor let him take a handfull of pills. Mine insisted on the jug of nasty potion the night before and another the morning before the procedure. You won't be hungry or thirsty. Good Luck. You can do it.

Thanks everyone.  I finished two glasses so far, six more to go - lol - I have to admit, it could be worse.  Thanks for letting me whine about it - lol

Dearest Poo Poo...

The only thing worse is the thick contrast they make you drink (barium) for the GI studies but at least with that it is very small!   On the flip side I took the pills and they are not fun either (still better then the liquid) the problem with the pills they gave me was you had to take five every 15 min with 8 oz of water and the doc recommended doubling that so I for sure don't know what they would do after RNY? I dread the thought of the next one in five years.  Oh, I forgot, there were about 32 horse sized pills.

My first colonoscopy I got to use the citrus of magnesium in the little 4 oz bottle, mixed with oj or something.  That was very tolerable.  The second one I had to drink the gallon of go-lightly, which was terrible.  next time I have one I'm going to buy the little bottle on my own and use that.  To hell with the go-lightly gallon crap.  Oh, I made a joke.  Tee Hee.

I might have missed it if you posted about your test..... but I was thinking of you and hoping all went well with your test. 

Thanks for thinking of me - lol - everything went fine - whew!  May not have to go back for 3-5 years, but I'll call next week to find the results of the biopsy he took.
