What's New Revue for Monday 12/21

Morning all.  Thinking of leaving work early this morning, so I decided since I have nothing else to do, I would start this puppy up.

Thank you for all the prayers for Oleta's mom (who's name is also Oleta).  Not looking good.

This weekend I made some "Ava-safe" Chex Mix.  Ava is my granddaughter who can not have or touch nuts.  So I made a batch without them just for her.  Next I am gonna make brittle for her.  I wonder how that will work without the peanuts.

Made several batches of peanut brittle for my son.  Gonna make some more of that stuff on Wednesday night.  Might just roast the turkey then too, since we are going to be eating sandwiches at my daughter's house at noon on Christmas Eve.  We will open presents around 2PM.  At 4PM is Church service at Penny's church.  Then we will leave and try to make our Church service at 6 PM.

Christmas Day we have more gifts to deliver.  We bought the grandkids Wii games, but they will not be receiving their Wii's until Christmas Day, so we can't give those gifts Christmas Eve.  The kids are gonna wonder why they got so little from Grandma and Grandpa this year.  Will they be surprised when we make a second appearance.

Then, on Christmas night Mary and I are going to the movies to see It's Complicated.  May even see a second movie after that.

My Christmas shopping is done.  But then again, all I had to buy was Mary.  LOL.  She has bought all her and our gifts except mine.  She better get on the stick.

So what did you do this weekend and what are your plans this week?

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Hi George!  And, those yet to come!

I didn't have an exciting weekend just busy.  Went shopping , crocheted a little.  Beleve it of not, I took a nap on Sunday!  I never take naps.  I was chilled to the bone and decided to slip under my blankets and before you know, I was nodded out.  It did feel good.  I think it was a stress reliever.

Sounds like you and Mary have a lot going on too.  I wish my husband could cook and bake.  He can't even make toast.  My next life I will find a chef who just makes low carb and bariactric friendly food.

I am doing pretty good but cheated and tasted a piece of chocolate last night.  I couldn't resist for some reason.  First time I have cheated.  I regretted it.   I got on the scale and didn't gain any weight so I am lucky.  I ate a lot of protein yesterday.  I don't know how to get my fruit and veggies in yet.  Any suggestions?

Well, everyone have a great day.  Don't forget to smile today.

Mary

Morning George, Mary & The Rest of you dear OFFr's,

George I make my own mix too, because I am not crazy about peanuts, and peanut brittle, yumm, one of the girls on the PA board has experimented with making it with sugar substitutes with varying success, one brand of sweetner she uses, I think it's malitol, works well, I also want to see that movie and may just go on Christmas as well.

Just a quick drive through as I have to get back to my reality back here in NJ, trip home last night was relatively uneventful other than flip flopping of the airlines schedule, was scheduled for 4:44 when I got to the airport it was pushed back to 7:55 and then when I check the board again about an hour or so later, it had been moved back to 4:55 and then when I arrived, there was an hour wait for van to come pick me up to take to offsite parking, seems there was an accident that held all the vans up, then it was to my car, where my dear son went and cleaned off and shovelled out my car in the lot so I could just get in and go, I owe him big time for that. . .  24 inches of snow, for those out in the mid-western states or the upper regions of New York, not a lot, but for those where I am, WOW.  It looks beautiful though and I'm glad to be home, the snow on my back deck has drifted to probably 3 feet and unlike years gone by, there is no doggy tracks in the snow :(  but tomorrow night that should change, when I go to pick up Roxie.

Well I'd better get my butt in gear and get out the door to work.  Wishing you all a wonderful day, and sending prayers and positive thoughts to all in need.

Hugs, Laureen

Laureen, I know how sad it is not to see the doggy prints in the snow. It just brings the hurt a bit more closer each time you see something to remind you.
I am so glad that you are getting Roxie. When you sent me the pictures of her I knew just why you fell in love with her. She is such a sweetie. Are you going to keep her name Roxie or are you going to change it? How old is she? She looks young....and like a little loverbug too! She is just precious.

Congratulations on the new arrival in your family and your household too! Give her a hug and smooch from her Aunty Bren! Can you tell I love dogs? Nothing better than them but Misty is rating right up there too...even though she is a kitty!

Thanks Brenda!  I can't wait to give her lots of hugs and smooches from her Auntie's here and the ones I have not been able to give Dillinger the last 3 weeks, she will be well loved and she will be 3 years old on January 15 and I am hoping that what I saw in her that day I went to meet Sirius is what she is, she seemed very sweet and and yet I sensed that once she feels safe and secure again that there will be a bit of mischief around the house again, as rotties are full of energy up to the age of about 6 or 7. . .  as for kitties, they sure are another form of furry love, which unfortunately for me, is something I cannot endure due to my allergies to them.

Thanks again, I hope to meet you one of these days.  I will just have to take road trip and meet a bunch of you wonderful women from this board. . .  or perhaps some will make their way to my part of the world.

Hugs, Laureen

I am so so so excited for you Laureen.  Glad you made it back to NJ safely.  Hope the trip to pick up Roxie goes well.  Does she like car rides?  I love taking my one dog that likes to go for car rides, with me.  Even if it's just to the store, she loves to go.  People in other cars talk to her too and she makes them smile, which makes us all happy.  Life is good.

Jan,

I sure do hope she likes car rides, as tomorrow will be a bit of one to bring her home and I would enjoy being able to take her on trips with me.

Dillinger loved going for rides and was well behaved in the car, I could never talk to him and mention the word car in the same sentence, or he would dance around, grab his leash and scratch at the door, it did not matter if I took him to the vet or anywhere else, but it had better be a long enough ride or he would be a mule and not want to get out of the car.  One of my g/f's from Boston asked me the same thing, said she hoped Roxie was a good car dog, so that we could come up and visit her, with her b/f and his two labs.  So I am going to make sure that (1) she is car friendly and (2) that she stays dog friendly, so that I can bring her anywhere people won't mind, which will also give me more freedom than I had with Dillinger, as he had dog aggression.

Thanks Jan. . .

Morning George and MaryMargaret, and those to follow:
Well, Christmas is pretty much over for me this year -- my DS and DIL were here last evening and we opened our gifts -- they seemed to really like what I got for them, and they went way overboard for me.
I think the nicest thing I got was a huge bottle of extra virgin olive oil from World Market.....wonderful gift!

Packed all the rest of the cookies and other goodies I had in the house and they are going into work this morning.....I've been so bad in eating junk and the most of the five lbs I lost last week are back....bad!

We got snow Saturday and most walkways and streets are really slippery.....good thing I can park close to where I go into the bank now.

This week is really going to be relaxing.....work today and Wednesday,
make cinnamon rolls for the 2 neighbors for Christmas morning on Thursday (they rise overnite in the refrigerator) and make up a s/f orange jello with shredded carrots and pineapple to take to my sister's on Christmas day.    That's it for me.....will kinda be a let down after my flurry of baking and cooking last week.   Made a big pot of  hearty meaty turkey chili yesterday noon so I will be eating on that all week......I love soup!

Have a marvelous Monday,
pat r.

Good morning, ya'll.

Well, in about an hour I head back to the Hope Lodge.  I feel like a person who got a weekend off from rehab, or prison, or something.  Not that the Lodge is a bad place.  It is a wonderful place.  But I only brought my pillows and pills home with me, and all weekend I'd want something and realize it was in Greenville. But I can't/won't haul EVERYTHING back and forth all every weekend.  I may bring more stuff on Wed. since I will be home for 4 days.

I am feeling GREAT, and have convinced my DIL she doesn NOT have to go with me this week.  It is only 3 days.  The only problem I have is wanting to nap in the afternoon and going to bed at 8 PM.  She doesn't need to sit and watch me sleep!

It is COLD here this week but at least we have NO SNOW!!  Hooray!  Sorry all you folks who love living in those snowy areas.  I grew up in upstae NY and my DH and I were stationed in North Chicago for a few years, so I DO KNOW what snow is like.  AND I DO NOT LIKE IT!!  A slight dusting is ok, but inches and feet of it, no thanks.

Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Good morning George and OFF friends,

Wow, George, you and Mary sound super busy.  I hope you have a wonderful holiday with your family.

Today is clear liquids for me and then the dreaded colon prep for my colonoscopy tomorrow.  The prep is the worst, so one must do what they have to do - ICK - LOL

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Debbie
