Question about colonoscopy

Were you instructed to stop your vitamins 4 days before the procedure?  My instructions tell me to stop vitamins 4 days prior.  Just wondering if anyone else had to. 

Yes Debbie I was told to do that too....I never did ask why.

Yeah, because they have iron in them mostly and that shows up in the colon (or so I was told). Anything reddish or blackish shows up as blood and they can see that and think something's wrong. I have to do the same thing before my EGD (stop taking iron) or the test results come up screwy.

Did they also tell you to avoid certain foods like Beets and Spinach........basically for the same reasons Eileen explained. 

Also certain vitamins, like E (I think it's E), can thin blood and you don't want that if they do a biopsy or anything. 

Don't worry about the test, I've had it done a couple times....the meds make you sleep.....for me it was a great afternoon nap!!
