Monday Monday..........What's new with you?

Good Monday Morning!
Yippee, I get to start the thread again........

I'm up at this awful hour because I took a nap late in the afternoon and so now I'm wide awake.  I will take something shortly so I can get to sleep before 1am....My internal clock is all messed up since surgery....I want to try to get back on my normal schedule.  I may even try to take a short walk in the morning.  I'm sure Buddy boy would love it if I got back to our normal morning walk.  I'll see how much energy I have when I wake up.

It's supposed to be in the mid 80's here again today.  What wacky weather we've had here since Thanksgiving week.....up and down and up and down..

I'm hoping to take it a easy today....very little housework, but need to catch up on some paperwork and make some phone calls.

We have company (Matthew's Nephew, his Niece, her baby and husband) coming in Jan just after the new year.  They will be here for almost a week.  We can't wait!!!  The baby will be 1 years old in just a couple of days....what a smart little girl!!   I wish my niece and her baby (5yrs old) would come for a visit.

I've got to find a new dermatologist and dentist.  I haven't been to either since we moved!  

I'm working on my baking plan for the next 2 weeks.....I love to bake lots of different cookies and give them to friends and neighbors.  Since I'm so new here I know very few of the neighbors so I'm thinking a tin of cookies for each house on our little culdesac will be a good way to say hello.  Just a few days before my surgery we meet the couple at the end of our circle across the street.....they also have a miniature schnauzer....she's a tough dog and scared my Buddy LOL!  Does anyone have a good recipe for fruit cake?  Yes, I like fruit cake and want to try making it this year.

I'm trying to book my annual cruise....hope to have that all worked out by the end of the week.

Matthew bought us a new "toy game"...the Wii sports thingy........he's been enjoying it.  I'm going to buy some of the attachments to surprise him.  Now he wants a new 50" TV for the family room ...I guess he thinks he'll play virtual golf or tennis better on a bigger screen...LOL  BOYS AND THEIR TOYS!  It was actually me who brought up the idea of getting the Wii station.  I want to get the Biggest Loser work out....once I'm healed from surgery I can use it.  I better send my wish list to Santa soon if I want to get it.  

Here's a stupid question.......does eggnog you buy in the grocery store have any alcohol in it?? I'm thinking no.  right?

OK- I'm going to get a glass of water, take something to help me sleep and climb into bed.......

Good evening Ruth.  Hope you are doing well.

Let me start from the bottom of your post and answer/make comments.

Egg nog in stores - no alcohol.  Lots of sugar though.

Wii - we got ours.  Have not used it much.  I have played a few  hours of Deal or No Deal.  Will start bowling and golf soon.

I used to bake a lot, now I let Mary do it.

Used our Nu Wave last night for the first time.  I really wasn't impressed except that I cooked chicken frozen, without thawing it out.

Been cold her for a while.  Maybe it's winter.

Took three grandkids to see 101 Dalmatians, the Musical.  The "hyperactive" five year old sat in his seat with his eyes glued to the stage.  The twelve year old enjoyed it, but we had taken him to a couple of others.  The three year old was okay the first act, but after intermission, she got antsy.  After every song she asked if it was time to leave.

Not much else going on for me.  Will check back later.

Back to work today. That's OK - I'm grateful to be working. My hubby got laid off a week or so ago. Spending the week baking Christmas presents and making spiced nuts for gifts. Also, getting ready for the kids to come home on their break. I am a new empty nester and it will feel so good having kids in and out of the house again, even if it's only for a few weeks. I really miss activity in the house.

I'm looking forward to Christmas this year. We are all decorated and presents are all done - just have baking and cooking to go. I'm hoping to take off work on the 24th so it will be a nice 4 day weekend to look forward to.  This year will be great for me. I'm finally at the point where I can eat most anything - just not much of it - so I'll be able to enjoy all the food without the guilt of overeating. I am so much more comfortable in my own skin this year. I haven't made goal yet - I still have 25 pounds - but I don't feel miserable anymore. I have a work party on Saturday, and I have a dress that's been hanging in my closet for years that fits perfectly now. I'm so thrilled I will actually get a chance to wear it.

Even with an unemployed husband - this will be a good Christmas.

  Morning all..off to school for me...just 8 more days and then we have our Christmas..ooopps ...sorry Holiday Break.  Having a hard time at school..some kids have been asking .."why can we talk about Hannukah, and Kwanza and Ramadan, but not Christmas?"  I can't answer that except to tell them its the school's policy.

  JHP>..how to you make your spiced nuts???  I have been baking mine with splenda a little bit of butter and DaVinci syrup..yum...haven't spiced them yet.  What spices do you use???

 X-mas shopping is done...support group tonight and  on my way to my 7Am class.

I usually use a little butter, cumin, chili powder and maybe a touch of honey or cinimmon (and anything else that looks intrigueing in the spices). I kind of wing in but I always include the cumin and chili powder.

Thank you !!!!  I mix my nuts..usually cashews, walnuts, pecans and peanuts with a little butter, splenda, splenda brown sugar, and some flavored SF DaVinci syrup then bake them...ohh my goodness...I want to try with some cinnamon and maybe some ginger..didn't think to try chili powder or cumin too.

hoping carla made it home safely--today she starts her job!!!!!!!!!!!!! whooooooooooooo hooooooooooo!!!!!!

after my whining about not liking michael's computer-grey screen,nasty keyboard...i had a duhhhh!!!!!!!!! moment-this morning i am sitting comfy and warm inthe recliner using my laptop!!! i am afraid to turn on my comp---don't have it backed up and just plain ol afraid!!!!!!!!!

yesterday was a good day in re moving yet i feel like there is still so much to do!!!!!!!!!!! like-rent my truck!details!!!!!!!!!! and a trip to orthoped office for the scrip for PT in new location....all very important !!!!

our bedroom is about empty as is the comp room...kitchen is mainly just pack it and clean it....there are still lots of things to do tho and i ran completely outta gas at 10:15 last nite...today,michael wants to get the couch and the frig moved to the garage..those are heaviest items...so that will be done before his surgery tomorrow...

the dogs are hysterical..they follow me around so closely that brody slid into my rear when i stopped suddenly last nite! they get all comfy where they are , then i walk out of the room so they follow--i finally said "all aboard!!!!" before i walked out to the kitchen once!!!! roxie sits on me-ON my collar bone...not my lap!!!!!!!
