4 years ago today I was a hurting turkey but up and walking the halls of the hospital on my way to a new life! Yesterday was the 4 year surgiversary! I spent the day quietly working on the paper that is due at the end of this class, went to church and that's about it. Today more school work and hopefully some cleaning to happen in the family room. It needs it badly! This coming weekend is the last days of this online course that I am taking plus my neice and nephew are coming to my house for an overnight (first time in their lives to stay at my house, they are ages 12 and 10!) and hopefully they will help make cookies, and decorate! So I want to get the school stuff done well ahead of time so that we can have fun! I'm having Christmas dinner here too. Should be interesting!
have a great day everyone!

I took this past semester off but will be back at it in the spring. Many people don't understand why I want to do all this work to finish a degree at this age.....just something I've always wanted.
Enjoy your weekend and your time with your niece and nephew. Cookie making is such fun with kids!
A great big hug to you too, we both had wonderful days yesterday and now I will have a really great Christmas present in the form of Roxie girl! I know you have a Roxie and then there is my sister from another mother who also has a rescued Stafordshire Terrier, that they adopted 2 years ago after having lost their previous one at the age of 11, so it would seem Roxie is good name and since mine came with her name, I feel it only fair to leave her with it, it suits her too!
If I sound happy, I truly am, the sadness over Dillinger is still there, but the fact that I feel the Universe conspired to make all the things happen in just the order they have, to make it so I can have good ol fashioned doggy love once more is easing my pain. I am going to go shopping for her, a new collar, lead, bowls and bed are in order for starters.
So last night my DIL stopped by to borrow my portable DVD player for the flight down to Florida, they are leaving today and we had a good talk about my son and she too feels that he has withdrawn more over the last year and believes that the job he came back from Germany to, is a big part of it, as she said it is all consuming and he claims to not like the job, yet he is tied to this because of his goals to make partner, which because I know my son, he will not back down once he makes up his mind on something, I just hope that he does not lose the things that matter most in life because he is so focused on succeeding as a way to prove his worth. Sadly, he does not seem to understand that from my prespective, once he achieves whatever the prize is he is after, it loses it's luster and therefore he finds no real joy in it. The "dis ease" of addiction, never being satisfied with what life has given you right here and now. . . it took me years of 12 Step recovery to learn that I have and will always want "more" of whatever and that I need to focus on the fact that I have exactly what I need right here and now. I wish I could wrap what I've learned in a box and give it to him for Christmas.
Well, folks, my day is going to be as simple as I can keep it, taking roommate to work, shopping for Roxie, cleaning my house some, including laundry, figuring what clothes to pack for Florida on Tuesday night and going to dinner at a friend's house this evening. All is right in my world today and I sincerely hope yours rights itself if you are going through something, which many of you are right now.
Hugs, prayers and positive thoughts to all, Laureen

Hi Laureen,
I'm happy that you are finding a new four legged love! I do try to keep up with your post on here and facebook.
We also lost a long time loyal four legged love yesterday and she will be missed terribly.
Hugs to you as I do know what you have been going through with Dillinger.
Have a great day!
