Good Morning Friends!

I am up early so I can take my roommate to visit her boyfriend in prison, it'a long story, but suffice it to say, that drugs/alcohol can make people do things that wind them up in jails, institutions or dead. . .  it's an hour plus drive and then from there we are headed to Pennsylvania and to meet with Sirius. . .  Me and Diane (my rooommate) are soooo excited, I will take some pictures of the dear boy and well if all goes well, then I will have wet nosed, sloppy kisses in my near future.  After that, I am going with an AA sponsee as support for her first speaking commitment, which is, for those who are not familiar, where you share your experience, strength and hope in order to give others the hope that they too can get/stay sober.  Then this evening I will attend my regular AA woman's meeting, go home and fall in my bed excited but I'm sure exhaused (lol)!

That's my day, how about yours?

Happy Hannukah to my friends who celebrate the festival of lights!

Hoping that your day is full of joy and peace and that you can find the strength to get through whatever life situations you are facing.  Special prayers for Jacki, Annette, Grammylew and those in special need right now, your OFF family is here to support you!

Hugs, Laureen

Laureen and OFF friends,

Laureen, you're the early bird this morning - lol - good luck meeting Sirius today!  I know you'll be happy to get those licks!!!!  LOL

I was up early working on stats.  We are driving to Morrisville PA to look at a police interceptor to be transformed into a cab since we have to pull one of our cabs off the road by the end of the year.  Hope we find something nice.

Since we are going to be 1/2 hour away from a GNC that sells Max Protein, I'll probably be stocking up since I'm almost out of chocolate, which is my favorite!

Have a great Saturday everyone!  Be safe, stay healthy, and be happy!

Good morning Laureen and all

"if all goes well, then I will have wet nosed, sloppy kisses in my near future"

Didn't I offer that to you once??

I have a busy day ahead....hope I can at least make a dent in the Honey-Do list... toilet that decided to start leaking, dog ate the electrical cord off the Christmas tree, plus some pens to start on on top of laundry and all the other usual stuff...

My wifes birthday is tomorrow... I really suck at this... I never have a clue what to get her, and she never likes what I get her, but wont accept "Honey, just go get what you want" either... *sigh*

Well... too cold in the shop to work out there... so, look out toilet, here I come!

Hope everyone has a great day....

good morning!!! i snuck out of bed a bit ago--was comfy and cuddled with roxie and brody-oh yea, and michael! but-we have that showing at 1 today so i figured i should get up and get my day started!

laureen...when my mother and i met for the first time in 2000, we had talked about my half sibs on the phone--all but my sister patty....we talked about patty in person and i cried wishing i had "been there" for her as the older sis; which was impossible due to having been placed for adoption....anyhow-long story short- patty had been involved in drugs as a young woman and she was in the wrong place at the wrong time when her supplier shot and killed a police officer-patty was scared and ran with him and then he killed another woman while patty was outside trying to hotwire the lady's car...suffice-she herself died in prison after more than 20 years (she had a life sentence)  a few years ago...i miss her still...

i am constantly amazed at your strengths and am so proud of you going with the gal for her speaking commitment...i must say that my own life was truly enriched by our walkin and shoppin in pittsburgh! wish we could do that again!!!!!!

well- roxie's lil nose is a tad out of joint--she had grown accustomed to being the only love of my life and my attentions when brody was gone...and now; she is trying to retain her "spot" velcro'd to mommy...no worry --they are both my babies!!!!the queen sized bed is a teensy crowded but it was comfy and cozy!!!!

i worked diligently yesterday on packing and purging...and i am so proud of me but nobody else would know i had done a durned thing!!!michael worked hard at revamping his computer desk-he had freecycled a quite massive desk with a hutch that he took off a week or so ago to put in the garage- then he took the desk out of the comp room and started modifying it--it now is on a base with wheels, has at least one extra drawer and facing on the remaining bottom..i personally liked it how it was yesterday morning but he worked all day on it--sawdust flying and nails and screws everywhere--i pray that today he decides it is done enough to put it in the garage--my 17 boxes are sitting in the hall since i couldn't get passed him thru the living room...he does wonderful work and is rebuilding from pieces and parts of other tv stands etc..but he tends to overkill and i think he should have stopped ...ah well- it's HIS desk not mine!!!!!

we'll straighten and spit shine this morning but the house is anything but show worthy!! and definitely resembles a house that is seriously being moved out of!!!! i am excited that people are still looking at this point in december --and remain hopeful--so--maybe swing that chicken??? i had a long talk with St Joseph last nite...

the house showing is seriously a snag in our weekend tho-to go from cleaning (when i clean i have always made a mess before done!!!!) packing mode back to clean for show ...ughhhh and for what-maybe 15 minutes??? we'll do it...load the doggies in the car and drive around for a bit.....sorry-had to whine....

i almost am finished with my Christmas shopping--need to return one gift -too big! and pick up about two more-then wrap and am done enough...our lil tree is packed away neatly-i know where it is right now- hope i can find it next sunday!!!

i'm signed up for testing to be a census enumerator for 2010...i'll test on the 29th! i had a blast doing the census in 2000 and it will provide some much needed income for the few months of next year that i will work....looking fwd to that! then; i'll have to find "real work"....ughhhh

well- i'm past the point of rambling i think--for me-this thread is also kindof a journalling effect so i thank you for obliging me ...

this morning; i share a gratitude for my wls-in a weird way-without my surgery; i would not have found OFF and would not have met melissa...who inturn brought brody to my life after our pittsburgh palooza!!! her caring and love for brody have shown thru all of the tribulations we (she and i ) have each traipsed and that love gives us a wonderful bond....

sending my prayers out this morning...so many here know  who they are that need them...and so many of our group that are not "seen" but thought of....and so many more who probly don't feel that they deserve prayers yet are truly our angels!!!! grab a hug as they pass by and send one on to the next person!!!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Good morning, ya'll.

Today is washing and packing day.  Getting ready to head to Hope Lodge tomorrow.  I'll be staying there for 6 weeks while getting radiation treatments.  I will come home on weekends, but I won't be bringing much home on those days (probably just my pillows) Our daughter flies in this evening and she will be staying with me the first week.

I will be doggie sitting today, too.  Our DIL and the boys are going to Winston-Salem to support the high school football team in their bid for the state championship.

In one of George's earlier post he mentioned Cleaning For  Reason.  I have signed up for their service, my doc has sent the fax.  I am waiting to hear back from them.  It is a wonderful thing.  Like the "Road to Recovery" program run by the American Cancer Society that will provide rides to and from treatment if you need it.  And, of course, the Hope Lodges around the country.

Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Grammylew,

Just want to send you off with hugs and good wishes.  Hope the strength you so appear to hold onto keeps you going and going and that you do as well with your radiation, as you did with your chemo!

Sending you hugs and positive thoughts, Laureen

HI GrammyLew:

I also stayed at a special Lodge for people in treatment..also six weeks and home on the weekends. It took about two hours each way to get to treatment and it was exhausting..especially since my treatments started  January 2nd......so just getting dressed warm and the trip was wearing...Id literally climb up the stairs at night on hands and knees so the radiologist insisted that I stay there all week, every week.  Mind you, I had alot of extra complications from the surgeries so you dont be worrying about that stuff at all.  Radiation is exhausting but you wont find it so difficult as I did since you went thru your surgery so well *s*.  Just allow yourself to rest during the day, do your best to eat well for strength and go with the flow.  The staff in these lodges are excellent and take wonderful care of you. *s*
