terri i don't think any of us on OFF knew michelle-please tell us, tho, what her illness was-those who are new may wonder if it was wls related or otherwise...

some fears can be calmed by knowing what to look out for or.....

prayers.....

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Michelle had WLS surgery in September of this year, hospitalized a few days later with severe hemorrids, losing a lot of blood.  She then developed a fistula which remained opened.

Pneumonia set in.  Then it was discovered she has leukemia.  After chemo it appeared she would have a long road to recovery, but at least a long road.  In a period of 6 weeks she dropped 100 pounds.

Spending 3 weeks in ICU, last week her organs began a systematic shutdown.

She was only 40 years old and had to fight the insurance companies for over a year to cover her surgery, convince her husband to support her descision, then to be taken by cancer.  The surgeon has indicated that the leukemia lay dormant and that her death was not a result of WLS surgery.
