Mary did some baking today.  She made pumpkin spice muffins.  A real tough recipe.  One can of pumpkin and one spice cake mix.  Nothing else.  Mix it together and bake it as cupcakes.

Morning George & Fellow OFFr's,

Just wanted to pop in and say a quick hello. . .

The paperwork was submitted for the adoption of Sirius (still trying to come up some strong male dog names) and hoping to meet the guy this upcoming weekend, the one glitch so far was that when they called my vets office, whoever answered the phones, told them I had only been bringing Dillinger in at the end of his life, what the heck?!  I called and spoke to someone there this morning and she told me to have the adoption woman call and speak with her directly, as I had been taking Dillinger there from 2005 when I finally found a new vet for him.  If all goes well, I will bring Sirius home in time for Christmas, as next week I fly to Florida to attend my daughter Angela's nursing school/pinning graduation ceremony, she finished yesterday and while it seems they are always saying nurses are in need, she has yet to find a job and is feeling a bit lost after working so hard towards this the last 4 years.  It appears the state of Florida is trying to cut back on hospital staffing. . .  she needs to take her boards and then if she does not have a job, she may move north, an idea which she is amenable to and I would welcome having her nearby.  Anyway, I digressed from what I was trying to communicate, which is that I don't want to bring a new dog home and then go away for 4 days, so if I bring him home when I get back from Florida, I will have the holiday's in between for us to all get used to one another.

Well I have work to get done and I'd best get to it.

Wishing you all a good day and the strength to get through whatever life challenges you may be experiencing.

Hugs, Laureen

What kind of dog is Sirius?  Are you looking to change his name?

He is a Rottweiler and a beautiful boy at that, as for his name, when I've met him and had him in my home, his name will come to me.  Sirius though is a kind of a cool name, though we shall see. . .  today though I am feeling the sadness of missing my Dillinger. . .

I am so sorry about Dillinger.  I just read your previous posts and saw that you lost him the day I started my vacation, so I had not heard.

Good idea about delaying Sirius until you get home.  Sirius is not a bad name.  I sort of like it.  Sort of reminds me of Brutus.  But don't call him XM for short.  LOL

Thanks George, I am following yours and Mary's way to heal the broken heart.  I miss my boy terribly, there is too much room on my couch, in my bed (even though I truly will try to make this new boy sleep on the floor next to the bed) and my heart, well, it needs and outlet for all the love I have to give.  I laughed when you told me not to shorten his name to XM, though I was told by someone that Sirius was the name of a changeling in the Harry Potter series, a dog that could change into a man or something and so that is kind of why I think I like the name.  Dillinger was very humanistic in many ways, people told me that over and over again, so I might keep the name for Sirius or if his personality speaks to me of another name, then it will be that as the shelter did not know his name, he was a stray. . .if you look at my facebook page for last week, I posted his picture.

Take care George, glad your vacation was a good one.

Hugs, Laureen
