I have the same thing only my ENT added an additional P.  He says it is BPPV Benign Proximal Positional Vertigo.  Supossedly the inner ear crystals get out of place.  He has me flopping from side to side on my bed to get the crystals back in place.  So far no luck.  I lurch and stumble also.  If I look down and back to a neutral position I am ok.  If I look right and back to center I am ok.  If I look up  and  back to neutral I fall over.  If I look or turn left and back to center everything spins counterclockwise very fast and I get quite nauseated.  Turning onto my left side during the night wakes me up with the spins and nausea.  I have been dealing with this since July.  Maybe I'll try a chiropractor.  It seems that a lot of us are dealing with this issue.

I know exactly how you feel....and my doc also said the BPPV...I just drop the Proximal...too hard to explain to people.....Inner ear crystals are not what I think is wrong....I think it is like my Chiropractor told me....and after he fixed me after having it for THREE YEARS...and being treated by my doctor. Rolling over in bed is horrible, plus just lying down....once I am down and the spinning dtops, I am fine....unless I roll over of course.

Find yourself a good chiropractor and have him help you. Ity might take you a little more treatments than mine this time...because the longer your neck has been out, the more inflammed the nerve to your inner ear is.

The first two treatments I had, he said that muscles in my neck seemed to want to pull it back out, but using moist heat on my neck helped relax those neck muscles.

Good luck and please please let me know how you are doing.

I am now seeing a chiropractor.  I have had two treatments and no change so far.  I give it a month or so  and then decide if I need to return to the ENT.  I have to do something.  This is driving me crazy.

Marti,
My PCP referred me to a PT and she performed this Epley maneuver on me for my BPPV.  She had me do it myself twice a day.  Plus follow the recommendation of not lying flat but propped up on pillows at night.
I saw her twice a week in her office where she performed this maneuver and gave me a neck and head massage (this was wonderful).  After about three weeks, it cleared up!
It wasn't flopping around but very controlled.  You might want to try it.  Just go to this link.

Good luck.

I am really pretty good right now and it has been a little over a week. My Chiropractor takes care of it. My doc sent me a bunch of stuff about the crystals in the ear etc.....but the XChiropractor works better. Thanks so much,
Marti
