Need some friends on this WLS journey

Hi, I'm Cathy!

I'll be 51 in December and will have the lap band done in early spring, as soon as my insurance approves and I  complete their requirements.  Right now, I weigh 282 and want to be a healthy weight for more energy and to be able to do the things I love to do.

I live in the country in Ohio, married, sell on Ebay, garden and raise dogs (Border Collies).

I need some friends on this journey to offer support and guidance.  I'll gladly do the same as I learn!

Thanks in advance!

Cathy,

Welcome to OFF, one of the best places around OH!  You will make fast friends here and everyone supports one another on this journey towards a healthier, richer life.  I think the vast majority of us are RNYr's but it's all the same journey, we got a tool to change us from morbid obesity to being healthier.  There is a woman I am friends with who has done very well with her lapband, over 100 lbs in a year, so let me tell you that if you work your tool, you will reap the rewards.

There are a few people who come from the Ohio and surrounding area on here.

Best wishes and look forward to getting to know yah!

Laureen

Hi Cathy, welcome to the group.  I can help you with your journey. I had my lap band at age 45 and I feel better now than I did at 35. Feel free to pm me and I can answer answer any questions you have. Good luck in your journey. Mona

edit to add; one of my very favorite furbabies was my molly the border collie...she was a treasure!!!!!!!and a rescue....

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

You've come to a great place to make friends and gather support and guidance.  Be careful, this forum is addicting.  My husband accuses me of being addicted to the computer now.  And who are you talking to now, is always his comment.
You will get really good tips for others that have had WLS, whether is is lap band, RNY or something else.  Good recipes too.
Welcome, Cathy, welcome.

Hi Kathy - this is a great group of ladies and a few men . . . they are very knowledgeable and very very helpful!  Welcome!
I had my RNY in July of 07 - I will be 60 in April.  I am soooo very thankful that I chose to have surgery to regain my health!

Hi Cathy and WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME.  I am a WLS gal myself having the lap RNY November 19, 2008 and have lost 120 pounds.  I started at 270...am 5'7" and 67 years "young".  I feel 20 years younger and some say I look 10 years younger.  Most importantly, I feel so darned good and have gotten off many of the several prescription drugs that I had been taking for years.  I had my oneyear checkup with my surgeon about 2 weeks ago and my blood work was excellent and I am a very healthy woman now and am enjoying life to the fullest.  The energy I have is tremendous.  I am so glad to hear you are having WLS and I had my mind all set to have lap band until the last minute I decided on the gastric by pass.  Everyone is different and I know  alot of people who have had lap band have been very successful.  You've come to the right place for support and information dear Cathy and I look forward to hearing more from you.   I'm hoping for a new "puter" or digital camera for Christmas so I can post  pictures like everyone else does.  I feel so obsolete or "senior" by not doing so.  hahaha

Welcome, welcome.  You have come to the right place for friends. I had my lap band at 59.  It is the best thing I ever did for myself. Visit often, ask questions, share your concerns, and your triumphs.
