Sorry for your loss Jean.  The nursing home should have had a protocol upon death.  I would find out about that.  Maybe contact a lawyer.

Jean,

I'm just now finding the time to read the posts from the past week. I'm so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. What you said is so true about feeling like a 6 yr old. After my dad died in 1986 I felt like 1/2 of an orphan. Mom's passing a couple of years ago left me with that "abandoned" feeling.

Like Marti I still feel the presence of my parents. Often when I do something that reminds me of Mom I smile. I am definitely her daughter in many ways. She couldn't throw anything out. She'd find a way to reuse it. Recently when I got "free" Concord grapes and made jelly I thought of her. I was filling "her" jelly jars and smiling at the memories and the wonderful smell. Hugs to you Jean.

Hi Jean,
I'm sorry to hear about your mom's death.  My mother died  2 years ago in October, at 88 years old.   It's not easy, especially at this time of year.

You are also around my age - I am 55.   I was not ready to let go of my mom either.  It's tough.
My dad died 20 years ago and I still grieve for him.

So... you are not alone, honey.

I'm so sorry for you Jean.  You've shared so many things with us about her it's like we know her. It must be terribly painful for you to lose someone who was so much a part of your life.
