Hi All!
Hope you've been having a good week and enjoyed your holiday yesterday.  I've been so busy with furniture deliveries, landscaping, and company from NY that I have not had time to get on-line.  I'm pooped!  The landscaping should be done tomorrow (Sat), my company leaves Sun morning at 4am and I can't wait to be able to rest one day!!!!

This week has not exactly turned out like I thought it would.......My company (someone I used to work with....not someone I would call a good friend but more than an acquaintance) has been a bit inconsiderate and it's starting to get on my nerves.    I hate to speak rudely of others but man she is really testing my patience.  Next time she invites herself for a visit I will not be so agreeable.    I think today I need to ask her and her daughter to please keep their feet off the brand new couches.  The kid (11 yrs old) walks on the couch cushions!  Is it just me?  As kids we would never do that in someone elses house!  I guess it just boils down to the fact that we were brought up differently, I have respect for other peoples property and she does not.   And that's only a small bit of what I think is inconsiderate......I don't know if I'll have the "courage" to say anything today but I really wish they would keep their feet off the couches.  Maybe it's just very petty of me.....

Well I've gotta get busy again........things to do....  Will check back in later if I get a chance.
Hope you are all doing well.

Hi Cindy and my OFF family:

I'm back from Chicagoland. A quick trip ... drove yesterday and came back today. But a good one. We had a good dinner at my brother Ed's and saw everyone except for my SIL Margaret's son and DIL and their little one, who are coming over on Sunday (they went to his dad's house instead, I guess). But my grandnephews put on quite a show for us and kept us laughing and entertained. Ben is learning the saxophone and playing in the grade school band, and for just starting three months ago, he's pretty good. And of course, since Ben is doing it, Sam (who's 5) wants to do it, too. So Ben was trying to play piano, and has learned a little of "Ode of Joy" ... Sam got on the piano and just freelanced. Ben is very structured ... Sam is more creative. Very different types. Sam really keeps us entertained ... he's quite a cut-up. I see a career in drama or comedy.

This morning, I had hoped to see Paulette or Brenda, but missed them both. But I did get together with my cousin Patti, Aunt Bernice's daughter, and got an unexpected gift from my aunt ... an old photo of my grandfather's family (this is my great-grandfather and great-grandmother and all their kids ... very old photo). Aunt Bernice used to have this photo hanging in her living room, and I always said I wanted it ... she said she would get a copy made but never did. So she made sure Patti gave it to me after she died. How nice was that! Patti scanned the photo into her computer before she gave it to me so she has a copy, too. I think we're probably the only ones interested in it. Grandpa Briesch had a big family, too. My great-grandfather's name was August ... but everyone called him Gus.

It was good seeing Patti ... I'm reminded how much she looks like her mother, the twinkle in the eye, the voice.

Anyway, the trip was nice, but a long drive, of course, and my body hurts. My brother Gary is healing well from his surgery ... he came down and stayed overnight at my brother Ed's house ... I saw Ed's new toy ... the 1999 pewter Corvette he bought. Boys and their toys! Nice car, but I would have a simple car and spend the money on something else.

Well, that's all for now. Glad everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. It was nice to be home for once instead of sitting at work. I didn't go shopping ... no money and I don't go out in the crowds. I hate crowds.

Hi Cindy, it's so hard when our parents age and need help because it's so difficult for them to find themselves the one being cared for instead of the other way around.  Before he died, my dad was losing his sight and my brother & I had a hard time convincing him to stop driving.  I dread getting to that stage myself.  :P  So glad you & Ron are able to spend good quality time with your moms...although it would help if Ron's mom wouldn't point out when your mom has problems, right?  Have a great weekend!

Hi everyone, I'm posting late again today.  I hope everyone enjoyed their day and wish I could respond to everyone.  I like these threads, hearing about how everyone's day went.

We had a really nice Thanksgiving.  Although most of my adult Thanksgivings have been wonderful, I still sort of dread them.  I didn't have a lot of nice Thanksgivings growing up--drinking and fighting--and so I guess it still is impacting on me after all these years.  I'm working on that.

Anyway, my MIL came over as our guest.  She made this delicious cream of squash soup and also brought green bean casserole.  My son has been roasting our turkey for the last several years.  He is so fantastic at it!  His turkeys are the tenderest I've ever tasted.  My hubby made a pumpkin pie with home made whole wheat crust.  That was delicious too!

I knew we weren't going to have anything to do with Black Friday, no way, LOL!  I saw news reports about people shopping on Thanksgiving (!!) and also lining up for the Black Friday shopping deals.  Some people have been waiting on line since Wednesday.  Whew!

Will upload pictures tomorrow of the fun we had with my grandson today.  A much better way to spend the day after Thanksgiving!  :)
