What's New? Friday Edition,

Hi.  Hope everyone had a nice day.

Ron and I had dinner with our moms.  They enjoyed the company and it was a nice day.  My mom is becoming more and more confused (dementia).  Ron's mom loves to point out how confused my mom is -- which doesn't help matters.  They've known each other for 40 years but were never that close and now they live at the same assisted living facility.  There are some tense moments every now and again.  Thankfully, dinner today was pleasant and everyone got along fine.

After dinner, we went to my mom's apartment to search for her TV remote control.  After a good 45 minutes of searching, Ron found it in a kleenex box -- under the kleenex.  Mom is always misplacing things these days.  Today, I had to take her checking account checks from her.  She's not happy about it.  I told her that I would make sure she had cash to spend (she never goes shopping without us and then I always write a check for her to pay for her groceries/supplies) on haircuts, postage stamps or whatever else she needs.  She went along with it -- but let me know she wasn't really pleased.  I explained to her that we can't take a chance of having blank checks get into the wrong hands.  Things are getting harder for her -- she is aware that she's faltering but is, of course, unable to control it.

The four of us (our moms and Ron and I) are flying to Vancouver, WA to visit the kids in mid-December.  I hope that mom enjoys herself (she struggles a bit in social settings) and that she will be able to savor the memory of having gone to visit.

Well, that's all for me for now.

I am up and ready to go to work... I didn't have any vacation time to take this day off so Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to work I go... It will be a weird day at work... no soldiers are scheduled to be issued or turn in any weapons and nearly everyone took this day off... so I will be rattling around the place almost by myself. I will have to find something to keep me busy or the clock will stop!

My wife went to Atlanta with the rest of her family... so it was just me and the dogs. I ate some leftover soup for my Thanksgiving dinner and played games on the computer. I did get a lot of shop time in, and the weather was awesome so that was really nice... got 5 pens made and boxed up for presents.

I got to choose when I worked today, so I am going in at 6 and get off at 2:30... and will get more time in the shop! Someone gave me some chunks of Cypress so I am looking forward to seeing how a bowl will look made from that... wont be a large bowl though... the wood was saved from a firewood stash, so it is not real large.

Hope everyone had a great turkey day...

Morning Cindy and Marc:
Everyone else must either be out shopping or still in bed!

Like Marc I have to work today and it's going to be tough.....they are starting to train me on insurance, but neither of those ladies will be at work today, had all my pd files done when I left Wednesday, so I too will be scratching for work....I could have had the day off, but it would have been w/o pay, and right now I can't afford that.

Had a nice Thanksgiving with my kids, the grand dogger, and Miss Fluffy cat (she was hiding most of the time from the dog).  My brined turkey breast was so flavorful and moist, and everything else turned out deliciously.  Of course, my DIL wouldn't eat the gravy or the cranberry salad, but she tucked into everything else.  She made a comment about the s/f crustless pumpkin pie tasting like "fake" sugar and just last week had told me she made it that way......I will never win with her.  Sent a lot of leftovers home with them.

Time to get on the exercise bike and drink my decaf coffee.

May try going out to Wal Mart later this afternoon after the crowds have thinned out.  Hope your Thanksgiving day was blessed.

Actually, I went out there about 1 p.m. found a parking place right away and the local store was out of the item I wanted, so I drove 25 miles to another Wal Mart, got a parking place right away and got both things I wanted that were on the black friday sale......crowds were not bad at all.

I need to live in your town!  Glad you got the things you wanted.  Even in our little town out in the sticks the local Walmart was packed all day long!  We drove by there when we were out with my grandson and were so glad we decided against shopping.  :)

Good morning OFF friends,

We had a lovely Thanksgiving.  This is the first time as long as I can remember where I didn't feel miserably stuffed.  I had a little taste of everything except pie, snacks or alcoholic drinkie poos.  I survived and felt satisfied.  Drank decaf coffee, water, and a protein shake.  Received some really nice compliments about how "thin" I'm looking.  What a GREAT feeling!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Today, I'm trying to motivate myself to get started with work.  I really wish I had the day off, but I don't and I'm thankful there is plenty of work to be had.  I'm totally unprepared for my piano lesson later today, but next week will be better when I can focus on practicing my lesson every day.

Happy Friday!

Debbie

Good morning, ya'll.

It's Black Friday and I'm not leaving the house!  Our DIL has been out since 4 AM.  At 7 she brought a load of stuff to hide in one of our sheds.  I'm sure she'll be back with more later.

We had a fantastic Thanksgiving!  Deep fried turkey is SO moist!!  It was just DH, myself, our son and DIL and 2 grandsons.  One of the girlfriends came over later and had some pie.  I'll never get rid of leftovers unless they all stuff themselves today!

Today is our 44th anniversary.  Still not tempted to leave the house and fight crowds!

One of the grandsons spent the night and I hear him stirring in there.  He'll want breakfast.  I wonder how he would feel about a left over turkey omlette.  JUST KIDDING!

Everyone have a fantabulous day.
