New Life

I had WLS 9/18 and I'm down 41 lbs and feel great.  I had a first last week that I have to share.  I went on a cruise and for the firss time in my life I came back after 4 days, 3 lbs. lighter.  It's always been at least 3 lbs. more when I return.  It felt great to get on the scale and see a weight loss.  I also went to a party last night and had a great time.  My daughter and husband noticed that my weight loss had made me a different person.  They said I was more friendly to everyone and walked around looking as though I felt great to be there.  Probably because I was wearing clothes I haven't worn in a long, long time and wasn't feeling like I was the biggest person there.  I only wish I had done this sooner.  Just wanted to share my new life experiences with you.  Thanks for listening.

Isn't it amazing how a fairly small change on the outside can make us feel so much better on the inside? My family kept saying I was a "different" person in a very positive way. I reminded them that this was the "me" that had been struggling to get out for a very long time. The "me" that food had stuffed away and almost "snuffed" out.

It's fun to share your journey. My wow moments at almost 5 yrs post op are harder to identify these days tho I still have those "aha" moments from time to time. A recent 2 week trek through Italy was a wonderful reminder of how far I have come. You share all you want. We enjoy it!

Congratulations.  Just wait, it only gets better and better and better.  I had my surgery in July and and am still having these wonderful WOW moments.  You'll be smiling a lot more now, guaranteed!
Keep up the great work!

Inspiring to hear this.  I'm down, had my surgery a couple weeks after you, and noticing some differences, too!

That's great!  It's the moments like that when we realize what a wonderful difference WLS has meant for us.  :)

This definitely helps give a boost to our self esteem and confidences.  I was at a party on Saturday evening, some of the people there I have not seen in a very long time (as in b4 wls) and the oohs and aahs and OMG's were too funny, but I must admit to loving it and what I love is that I feel how different I've become.  I was on the dance floor, not caring who, if anyone, was looking and it was just so freeing. . .  my life b4 wls was good on some levels, now it's great!

There will be so much more, hope you are logging this stuff in your blog, it's a good way to look back, as the further away we get from the beginning, the more we tend to forget how exciting it was for us to reach different milestones.

Best wishes and congrats on using your tool to enjoy life!  Laureen
