That's great news about your son, what is CWO4?  I know it's a rank, just don't know what.  Are the Ducks a college team?  What is the CT scan for?  Hope you have a great day!

I know you asked Grammy but I figured I would let you know in case she is not on in the next few hrs.  CWO4  is Chief Warrent Officer 4.  Nice promotion and pay raise.  Good for him.  Ducks are University of Oregon's football team.  CT stands for  CAT scan.  Computed tomography (CT), also known as Computed Axial Tomography (CAT)  Helps that I work in a military medical clinic.  heh heh  Have a good day.
My body does not define who I am but I am trying to define my body.  It  gets easier with every pound I drop.

A quick hello. I just have been in my "blue" funk lately. Kind of feeling like Eeyore. It's 5am. I've been up since 3:30. Made my shopping list and heading in Winco which is open all night.Waited til today because I have no room in my freezer for anything. This way I can put the turkey in the fridge to start thawing.

Kids won't be arriving until Thursday so I'll try to get a lot done before they arrive. I've been getting their Christmas stuff wrapped so that I can send it home with them. They'll stay home for Christmas this year. They were here last year. It's a 5 hour drive over sometimes nasty passes so I totally understand. Our son still enjoys coming home so we'll probably stay here tho we've been invited to our daughter's too.

I need to do something for a family in need. That always makes me feel better. I know it's a year round thing, but for some reason it always seems to be more visible this time of year. I don't have to look far to be able to find children or families. I still have contacts in the schools and usually find someone that way.

Thinking of you all.

Karen...You are so right about the warm fuzzies you get from helping others.  Anhyone wanting to do the same need only call any elementary school.  Not only can you find families in need you will also find that most have funds they use to help needy children year round.  My school call theirs the sunshine fund.  It was used to help buy school supplies, clothing, etc year round.  We also put the names of needy children on a tree at Christmas and the staff would take them and buy for specific children.  those who were not picked would be provided for from the sunshine fund.  I have been gone from the classroom since 2006 but still contribute to the sunshine fund a couple of times a year.  I truly do not desire presents anymore, whether it be Christmas, birthdeay, or whatever.  I am very blessed and have all I need.  I get much more pleasure making sure children have a Christmas and food on th table than I do from anything I could receive.  I reccomend it for anyone having a blue Thanksgiving or  Christmas.  Find an organization that is feeding the needy and volunteer.  You will end your day tired and happy.

I think that's a great idea to help a family in need.  I'll bet you'll be able to find a family.  There are so many, like you said, and it just becomes so much more visible during the holidays.  It does make you feel better.  When I lived in MD I would go to Elizabeth House which was like a restaurant for the homeless, well, that's how they labelled themselves.  It was a really nice idea.  There were tables with place settings and we'd bus the tables or bring the food out to the folks.  It did feel good.

Hi Everyone,

I am doing ok today.  Last night I got a call that my art teachers husband passed away.  He was the one that had the lung transplant.  I am so devastated and feel so sorry for that family.   We really thought he was going to make it.   He was such a nice and cheerful guy.  Even when he was so sick.  All I can do is offer her support during this hard time

Right before the holidays is tough for them too.

I see all of you are getting ready to do something busy.  I got my turkey yesterday and it is in the fridge getting ready to be cooked.    I love turkey.  My daughter wanted me to make  a ham instead.lol..,  I told her no it was a tradition to have turkey and all the works.  We are just staying home together no company this year.

Well prayers to all of you and I send my best to everyone
