Thanks Connie,

You are compassionate and sound like a good friend.  Wish you lived closer.

Oh no, so sorry to hear about your art teacher's husband.  Support is exactly what she needs, there's not much else that can be done or be helpful.  When I lost my first husband, I was in shock and when people said, let me know what I can do to help I didn't know what to say, couldn't think straight.  The biggest help was people who just came in and picked something to do--went grocery shopping or brought cooked meals, things like that.

Thank you,

I know she needs my friendship now more than ever.  SHe called me this morning and was a total wreck.  Her family is taking good care of her for now.  I just feel so sorry for her.

Thank you for writing.  I will try and be there for her

I feel bad for her too.  It's so good that you'll be there for her, she will need you so much.  After the first 3 months or so, the numbness and shock will wear off and then the pain will really set in.  A lot of times, that's about when folks "move on".  But for the widow or widower, they're frozen or stuck in time, still back where they lost their husband or wife.  It's especially important then to give her a listening ear and provide what support you can.  I hope that she will go to a grief support group too.  That's also a big help.  If she goes online, maybe you could send her this link to try:

It was so helpful to me, a real refuge that first year.

best wishes!

Going through boxes again, now that Gary is up here.  He's frantic to get everything put away.  I say just leave it, and if we don't use what's in the boxx for a year, pitch it or Goodwill it.  Found some really nice Baldwin Brass candlesticks in the box.  Don't know why we have them.  I'm not a candlestick type of person.  I'm going to have to learn how to put stuff on Craig's List.  I'll get my son to help me.
Staying home for Thanksgiving unless Joshua decides to be born early.  I've got a chicken defrosting in the fridge that I will brine and cook for the two of us for Thanksgiving dinner.
They're calling for snow Thursday and Friday, so hopefully we'll get the garage straightened out so I can get my car in it.  It's just a Saturn Vue, so it doesn't take up much room.
Ta ta for now.

I keep thinking we should just give away boxes we haven't opened in years but my DH always wants to look inside first.  Big mistake.  LOL, then we're always "finding" things we think we can't part with.  So you're supposed to get snow?  Waaah, all we ever get around here is rain!  :P  I want some snow!

Good morning Carla and OFF friends,

Your daughter's wedding date is my Dad's birthday.  He was such a wonderful man, my hero!  Congrats on the wedding.

I had a Pouch Party this Saturday and it was really fun.  I love watching people cook, and the two gals that did the demonstration/preparation of food were just awesome!  Everyone had a lovely time and the food was excellent.  I really don't think the creator of the Pouch Party wants the recipes shared unless people attend or wish to host a Pouch Party, so I will not be able to share the recipes....sorry.

Thanksgiving is Thursday already and I'm cooking for my family.  Our daughter will be coming in from New York with her boyfriend, and our other daughter and her family will be here, and hopefully my nephew since his parents are in Florida for the winter.  I'm so looking forward to spending some quality/holiday time with my family whom I adore.

Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

Debbie
