What's New - SATURDAY?
Good morning Nancy and everyone......
Nancy...you just wear me out with all you do in a day. Pack some of that energy up and send it to me!! Your mom will do well in her new surroundings. Change is sometimes harder on us the it is on them.
Laureen.....oh sweet Dillinger....prayers continue!
I went out with friends last night. It was fun..had a couple drinks and danced a lot!!!
This afternoon I am meeting a girlfriend for lunch and maybe some shopping....if we can get in the mode.
I was going to go to Iowa this weekend but plans changed so here I am.....need to find more to keep me busy!
Prayers to those in need. Share a smile with someone new today.
Love and hugs....connie d

Hi Nancy and everyone now and to follow...
Had to take my son about an hour away for some driving class this morning. I was not prepared for it. Had only a half a cup of coffee and was tired on the way there and back. So I didn't start my day on a real happy note..lol
Nancy, I think your mom will do well there. Just give her some time. I think it is harder on us with making the change wondering if we are doing the right thing. I have friends who suffered with that. You are a good daughter.
I can't get over this flu cold I have. It is a cough and I just feel down. Taking all of my viatmins so it can't be that. Getting my protein in. I lost six pounds so far this week. Which is really good. I added more protein by drinking two shakes a day instead of none.
My dog is doing better. Though it is a matter of time. Laureen I am sorry about Dillinger. It is really hard on us and them. They don't understand. I wish you some good thoughts.
Everyone else take care and prayers to all. I have come to love this place.

Oooohhhhhh Your party sounds wonderful.......
What an awesome way to celebrate for your Mom. Does sound like people will be "suffering" through chocolate comas when they leave.. ha ha ha. I love giving parties. I love the planning, shopping and actual "doing" of the party.
Please, don't feel guilty for moving your Mom. It is in her best interest to be moved. Yes it does get hard on our parents but sometimes it needs to be done. You love her and care for her and this is best for her.
Have a great and glorious party...... I can smell the chocolate from here...... ha ha

Nancy - I don't know how you do all that you do. I wish that I was closer so that I could help you with some of the arrangements for the party (I'm in Chatham); however, I'm presurgery and I'm afraid that I would be into the food that you have purchased, especially the Nanaimo bars - gotta love them! (maybe I should have one before surgery - no, not a good idea)
I envy your having your mother still around at 90. Mine died in 1983 at the age of 73, and even though our relationship had some tough moments in it, I miss her every day. Wish your mother a Happy Birthday from me.
Jacki - my heart goes out to you - just try to take one day at a time and know that many people here are sending out positive energy your way.
Well... 3 days till surgery. I'm as ready as I can be although I have to go to work today - I'll have the college to myself, just about.
I really have to have a change in the way that I think about food. I wish that there was a 12 step program that I could join and attend on a daily basis until I didn't need to go daily. I know that some people start AA that way, and I am definitely an addict. There is nothing around here like that - no overeaters anonymous or other group that meets daily for people with addictive behaviour other than alcoholics. I know that this will be a difficult journey for me, and I also know that having support and being accountable are going to be what saves me. Can I change a life-long habit at the age of 58??
I best get going - just got up - and take care of the myriad of things that have to be done before Monday.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Margaret

Good morning! Wow you are sure busy! Thanks for the hugs and encouragement, I do need it, and hugs right back atcha!
Yesterday got a little bit nutsy. My DH, youngest daughter & I were going to go see our niece in "Rent". I got a "low threshold" email from my bank which surprised me so I went to check it out and was horrified to see we were about to start bouncing. So I had to run and put cash in right away. My DH was sound asleep when I began to rush around. He got up and fell. :P He has balance issues sometimes because of problems with his spine. Anyway, he was OK so I went to take care of business. When I got back, he was in a lot of pain--not go-to-the-emergency-room kind but can't-sit-for-a-long-drive-or-play kind. So since my son was off by chance we gave him DH's ticket and went off to the Princeton area.
The whole group of actors & actresses were terrific but especially my niece. Oh, what a voice she has! The kid has some real talent and is majoring in voice so I'm thinking she wants to be a singer. She's a wonderful actress, too, very expressive. Anyway, that part was totally enjoyable.
We got back after midnight. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....
Had to get up early this morning to take Kristin for her doctor appt.
This afternoon, my grandson has visitation with his mother. It's a long complicated story that I'll save for another time. My grandson is my darling, nearly 6, and is on the autistic spectrum. His mother is my younger stepdaughter--and she's got so many problems it ain't funny. She doesn't have custody of my grandson. The boy's father does and my DH and I support that, even going to court with him against her. Like I said, a long complicated story. Anyway, mom has visitation with my little guy every Saturday afternoon...when she doesn't cancel. So hopefully she'll show up this week, haven't seen her since the first week of October! Poor little guy.
Hopefully this evening I'll be able to get to the computer and start reading the messages on the board. Until then, have a wonderful Saturday all!

Good morning all! It's a Saturday morning and I am on here. That don't happen often.
Thank you for getting us going Nancy. Please slow down, you are making even me tired.
Happy belated birthday Ruth.
Laureen - So sorry about Dillinger. Love him while you have him. We had two dogs in the early 90's that were diagnosed with Parvo. Because of how young they were, the vet said there was nothing he could do, we just had to bring them home. He said give them all the love you can and they could live another couple of weeks. Ouch! We fed them by hand and nursed them. They lived another 8 or 9 years.
Jacki - Take a deep breath. Don't worry yourself.
Pat - The best time to shop at my Walmart is when I go there. Before 7 AM. However, I am sure that will not be the case this Friday.
Cheryl - I hate the cleaning. Sure glad my kids insist on having the holidays at their houses.
Connie - If you can get in the mode to shop??? You are a woman. (I better hide)
Mary - That flu is terrible. My 1 yr old grandson is down with it now and they may have to stay home for Thanksgiving.
Irish - Glad you enjoyed the show. I am sure it is so much more enjoyable when part of the talent performing is family.
Margaret - Best of luck to ya on Tuesday. Keep us posted.
As far as me, it has been hectic here at work. I had to leave in the middle of typing this as one of my workers had a heart attack. The place went into a panic mode.
Not much else going on. Gotta work tonight, then make a turkey for church tomorrow morning/afternoon.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
George,
Not sure you know how I got Dillinger, but essentially my exhusband rescued him and two remaining litter mates out of 9 born to Dillinger's mother. All three puppies were very ill, with Parvo when I got them, I was bottle feeding them and Dillinger could not suck, so I eye dropper fed him, vet said, they were too little for him to do anything for, but that if I got fluids in them, they had a 50/50 chance of survival . . . all three of them survived, that was 13 years ago this week. . . I used to sneak him into my office, kept him in a box under my desk so he could be taken care of, as he was the sickest of the 3, when he was 3 months old one of my co-workers took him for her husband birthday and Valentine's day (it's where he got his name from, her husband John named him), turned out she was terribly allergic, tried everything she could and that is how 11 months later he came back to be with me once more; the day I went out to get him, it was to find him a new home, but he came to me as though to say, where you been and I knew before I got in the car with him that I would be keeping him, so love him I do, he is very special to me and actually to a lot of people, it's his personality. . . but as I sat in the Vet's office last night, I thought to myself, I cannot do this again, my heart is breaking and my pockets are empty, but I have no regrets whatsoever for anything I have spent on him thusfar, he is just the best. . . oh how I can run on about my dear sweet boy. . .
Hugs, thanks for your prayers and those of everyone else. . .

Hi Nancy and my OFF family:
Boy, you sure are busy ... it makes me tired reading all that you do. It's sunny today but I sure didn't want to get out of bed at 11 a.m. I really had to drag myself out of bed this morning. I'm so tired ... It's my Friday and I really don't want to go to work.
Heard from one of our buyout bunch ... she was a graphic artist who wasn't sure what she was going to do, so she sold everything and she and her hubby are traveling the Southwest. Seems they have settled in Albuquerque, N.M. Neither of them have jobs ... well, he didn't have a job before anyway, but now she doesn't have one either. Must be nice ... I'd be too afraid to do that. I like to have a regular paycheck coming in. But she did get a nice buyout (she had been there for 20 something years), plus she had a nice inheritance from her mom a couple years ago.
Me, I just continue to slave away on the sports desk. My graphic artist friend didn't know about the move, so she was surprised.
Not much else going on around here. Ruth, happy belated birthday
. Laureen, sorry to hear about Dillinger's cancer spreading. My mind isn't working well right now ... like I said, I'm tired. Next week is a short week ... two days only! Can't wait to go to Chicago. Hope it doesn't snow.
Have a good day.
