Happy Wednesday Everyone.....
Mary,
Hair loss usually happens 3-4 months after WLS. Take biotin - start with 3 a day for a while and then gradually taper off to one a day. It will help with the hair fall out and also strengthen your nails. You can buy it at Wal Mart or any other drug store over the counter. You can also take zinc -- I did that for a while but stopped after my hair thickened up. You can also use Tressemae (sp) shampoo for hair breakage.
Just one of the many side effects of WLS.

Done! Your Ticker:
Hi Pat,
Thanks for the suggestions. My vitamin has biotin in it but maybe not enough. I also think I needed to up my protein, I started to drink two shakes a day. My doctor would rather I get it from food. I must not be meeting the suggested amount.
Thanks for the advice and I hope all is well with you.

Gee Mary, you're two days further along than I am. I was hoping that my hair wouldn't fall out, because I've been taking Biotin since before surgery. I think it might be a little thinner, but not too much. I do get in all my protein a day, so that might be helping too.
You'll know when it's time to put your buddy down. It's hard, but you'll know.
Hugs to you.

HI Jan,
I think the problem was I am not getting enough protein. I may have to buy some extra biotin even though it is my vitamin I take.
as far as my dog, I think the time is near. It is hard to make that decision. You love them and want them around. But you don't want to see them suffer. Sad.
How are you doing on your weight? Mine is coming off slow.
Thanks again

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Good morning Carla and my OFFer's. It is hump day and so the week is almost half done....just another day of the week here in my humble little abode. I guess I would rather have that than some of the crap that I have had here....sometimes boring is good. I know ya all know what I mean.
DIL came for Kayden yesterday and then last night Bill saw her in Wal Mart with about 3 other girls. He said that he didn't see Kayden but I would think that she had him. Yesterday when she came to get him she set him down by the front door so I could say good bye to him. He kep****ching her with a strange look on his little face. I would have loved to know what was going through his little head. It was a mighty strange look he was giving her and not a sound came from him either. But I do know that he kept looking at Grandpa and I while they were still here. My heart breaks for that tiny little sweetheart of mine. He just can't possibly understand what is going on with them. I do know that he has to be confused. I try to keep his life as normal as I can here. That is the least I do for the little guy.
It is cold and cloudy here today. It is suppose to be in low 40's for the next few days then I am sure after that. I know it has rained and it looks like it is going to continue with rain through the day. Oh well, rain is better than snow.
I guess I should get going. I told Bill that I want to go to the resale shop in Chesterton. They bought a big empty grocery store and now it is really big. I always find some good stuff for Kayden when I am there and I have gotten a couple of nice things for Bill and I too. It is a resale shop that is ran by the area churches. All of the workers are volunteers and they give the money they make to help the people of the community with their heat and other utilities and things like that. They have given out hundreds of thousands of dollars the years they have been open.
I am sending love and hugs to all and prayers and good thoughts are being said for everyone too. I would love to respond to everyone but I just forget and don't have the dang energy to respond individually. I guess it just lazy but I just keep making mistakes. I don't know what I would do without the spelling check thing up at the top. Without that you would know just how bad it is at times. ha ha Have a super fantastic day and know that you are loved here.

Hi Carla and my OFF family:
I'm talking to Joyce Stewart ... she is six weeks out of knee surgery and still in some pain, not having good flexion yet.
Work was a pain last night ... just frustrating, won't go into details. I was up til nearly 6 a.m. and got up at noon. Had some trouble sleeping, too. I twisted my knee somewhat at work last night. I was walking toward a coworker ... don't know what I did to it, but it was early in the evening and I was in pain the rest of the night. It feels OK this morning.
It's gray, gloomy and chilly ... maybe in the low 50s.
Well, have a good day.
