Reading comments like yours and others I see all the time on the board makes me realize how fortunate I am that all six of my grandkids live within 45 minutes of my house.  As a matter of fact, Mary just got called to watch Brad's kids tonight for a couple of hours.

George,
You are lucky.  Mine are 5 1/2 hours away so we get to see them about 4-6 times a year.  Still I consider that lucky because some don't get to see their grandkids at all.
We would like to go up there more often but our DIL, although civil, does not want us staying at their home.  (A long story.)  So between hotel bills, travel and meals, a five day stay costs us about $1,000.  They live in a resort community - skiing and winter sports in the winter and lakes and boating/camping in the summer so hotel prices are always more than $100 a night.  We can't afford to do it that often.  We've been looking into getting a motor home.  Hubby is eligible to retire in 2011 so we can use it for travelling too.

That "Sister's Christmas Catechism" is a hoot ... haven't seen that one but have seen others in that same group. The woman who writes those (or at least the first one), I went to college with her. Her name is Vicki Quade. I'll never forget ... I had this nosebleed one morning when we were walking to class and she took me to the health center. She was a couple years ahead of me. We worked on the student newspaper together at Northern Illinois, the Northern Star. You should enjoy the show.

Sheesh.. I started posting before the end of the posts, but deleted it.  All is going well here right now.  I had a very busy Saturday, helped put on a huge baby shower for close friend's daughter.  Lots of work, but lots of fun, too.

Yesterday I felt like I got hit by a Mac truck, not used to the shopping, cooking and entertaining we did Saturday.  So I lounged all day and didn't get much done, but managed a couple of naps!  Each day gets easier with food and such, and I'm looking forward to next spring when I should be much smaller and get out and about more!

Many of you are having hard times, and you are in my thoughts today.

You may not be used to doing all that stuff, but isn't it great to be able to?
