What's New Tuesday Revue

Hi Margo and my OFF family:

I'm back from the hospital. It was a little difficult typing for a moment there. Gary's very vocal cat, ZuZu, decided she just had to be up here on my lap while I posted. Then she saw I wasn't going to feed her just yet, so she jumped down and went to sit in the windowsill. She has meowed constantly since I got home. She misses daddy. She's a very petite long-haired orange tabby with a white chest and a dark orange spot on her white nose. She also has white paws. Like I said, very talkative, almost annoying.

Gary is out of surgery and did well. He has a cervical collar on. The surgeon did a decompression of his cervical vertebrae, coming in from the back (I had thought it was from the front; if this doesn't fix the problem, he'll have to redo it from the front). Everything went well, other than he has a very large epidural vein, which the surgeon says he sees once in 10 years. That made things a little trickier because of the nerves. But otherwise, it was just fine. St. Joseph's Hospital in West Bend, Wis., is just a 60-bed hospital, so it was funny as I was sitting in the cafeteria at about lunchtime and the anesthesiologist passed me by and said hello and said he did well, and the scrub nurse said hello to me and said the surgery went well ... everyone knew who I was and what patient I was attached to. Wouldn't have seen that at Spectrum in Grand Rapids, which is so much larger.

I didn't sleep well last night; neither did Gary. I dozed a bit while waiting for the surgery to get done but not really sleep or even nap well.

Well, I need some food ... I had a "Power Breakfast" sandwich at Panera Bread this morning for breakfast and way too much coffee, so I need some protein desperately. But thank you everyone for asking about my brother. He is very dear to me. He is in ICU now (they said that was standard) and resting well and getting the good drugs, so it's just me and ZuZu now ... she's using the litter box ... what is it with me and cats while I'm on the computer, they just have to use the litter box?

Have a good day. I need food and a nap, in that order.

Hi Margo and all my OFF Friends,
Judy, I hope your family's health improves and that your sister can get a transplant.
My husband has off tomorrow and I don't.  He gets them all - Flag Day, etc. and he gets 15 sick days a year.  I get 5 sick days.  It makes me want to be a munipal employee.
Things are up in the air at work.  Our CEO is leaving Dec. 1 and the new CEO is not from internal.  So we are all wondering what changes will happen when the new guy gets in and how they will affect us.
Tonight I'm going to try and do a little organization of our home office.  It's become a drop zone.  I want to clean it enough that the grandkids can sleep on the aerobed in that room.  We usually give my son and dil our room and there is enough room for the queen size aerobed for the three grandkids on the floor at the foot of the bed.  We sleep in the guest room.  But now there is baby Tess so they will need to put the Graco Pack n' Play in our room with them.  So there won't be enough floor space for the aerobed too.  Last time they slept over all the grandkids came into the guest room in the morning and got in bed with us and snuggled and giggled.  I loved it.  I'm looking forward to a repeat at Thanksgiving.
Hugs and special thoughts to all who want them,
Bev
