OMG WHERE IS EVERYONE THIS MORNING...FRIDAY
Hi Eileen,
Yes, this flu stuff is horrendous. I feel great today but if I'm sick I will stay home. I'm extra careful especially with the grand kids living with us.
The thing with this swine flu is this is the 2ND year it's been around and each strain is stronger.
We really have to take of our health.

Hey Marcy and my OFFr friends!
TGIF!
Well Marcy nice to wake up and see a fresh face start us off. First time I did the post, I was overwhelmed and wanted it to be just right, back then we took the tread for a week at a time, and recapped what people had commented on the day before, so it was something like the work that our dear Eileen does for a living (newspaper column) (lol)! It was fun, but I kinda like this now, where whoever gets here first does it, it makes it kind of interesting, we kinda know that certain people are up late (early) and will do it on some days and then there are days like today, where it was a new face! Thanks and hope you feel better and get your R&R, perhaps running yourself ragged is a reason you are feeling under the weather. . ..
As for me, let's see, tomorrow I have my monthly support group, the one where I am a volunteer leader, along with a group of about 8/10 of us. It's a great commitment. Our Saturday support group breaks down by stages, we have a lap band group, pre-ops, new post-ops to 3 months out, 4 to 9 months, 9 to 18 and 18 and beyond. Then we recently based on what people expressed desires for started a support group for the support people (family members) who sometimes need support while we are getting used this new way of living. So it's a great and well attended group that meets once a month. We (the leaders) get together before the meeting for breakfast have a discussion about topics and then get to the center, set up and decide who will take what group for that month. This marks our 1 year of doing it and it is also open to anyone who has had WLS or considering it, not just people who have used the facility where we meet. Also we have a nutrionist and psychologist on hand, who roam from group to group and will consult as needed. So that will take up my Saturday, afterwards I will have dinner and then go to my AA meeting.
On Sunday I need to clean house, as in get rid of stuff, make way for the new furniture being delivered next week and speaking of which I need to get a mattress since one of the items is a bed, good thing there are sales this weekend. . .
Ok, enough from me.
Prayers and good wishes for all and strength to face life's challenges. Prayers to all the families of those in Texas dealing with the aftermath of yesterdays madness.
Hugs, Laureen

Laureen,
Thank you for those encouraging words...wow beginning this thread is a somewhat daunting task!!!
Getting new furniture if fun!!! I too probably should look into a new mattress. I always thought mine was comfy..but now that I've lost so much weight..I think its kind of lumpy and hurts my hips a bit. But, it will have to wait as money is a little tight right now.
Your support groups sound great..glad tho that we don't do as much..poor Annette would never be able to leave the hospital again!!!!
I do know that she has been getting a lot of requests for just a post op meeting. I hope more than just 4 or 5 people show up for that.
Have a great week end...enjoy your new furniture..send us some pics..I love to see new furniture!!!

Thanks Marcy,
Support is such an important part of our journey and in the NJ/PA area, we have a large WLS community. Some people have groups that meet at their homes once a month, there are cooking support groups where they adapt recipes, food desires to our new way of living.
Our "First Saturday" support group leaders are all volunteers and it has worked well, as there are usually 2 of us to act as leaders for each group. The groups break down for 2 hours, topic specific. Then there is a half hour bio/food break, at which some people exit and after which we meet as a collective group. People know they are welcome to come for any portion of it and it was started because of the needs of the WLS community, as the ones we have on the 2nd Tuesday (pre-ops), 3rd Wednesday (post-op) are two hours and meet at 7 p.m. which did not work for everyone who wanted to attend. It is also a great way to stay connected and involved and we welcome people to get involved once they approach the year mark, to keep things fresh. I love feeling like I am giving back, as I heard in an AA meeting, and I quote, "I need all the help that I can give".
Take care, Laureen

Sooo glad it's Friday!! I love my weekends. Work is OK, I know I'm lucky to have a good job, but the days are long.
Today after work I'll go home and have dinner with Michael. He has a busy day today and is setting up his display for the art show tomorrow. Lots of work. So tomorrow we'll work the art fair and hopefully he'll sell things. Then Sunday is for relaxation and getting the dog out. The weather in Minnesota is mild and sunny - GREAT for November! Gotta enjoy it while it's here.
Next week we have a break and have Wednesday off for the Vet's Day holiday - so I'll enjoy that. Otherwise, not much else to report. I'm still doing well with no issues with my pouch as of yet! Yay!

Mary,
Sounds like a great week end for you indeed!!!
Enjoy your good weather..we're looking for snow flurries here!!! (NY)
Did you get the recipe for the pumpkin bread?? I'm going to try again and this time I'm going to substitute NSA applesauce for the oil.
Good luck with the art show and enjoy your weekend.

Hi Marcy and all my OFF friends,
Fridays are busy for me at work. Weekly meetings and weekly reports go out today.
Going to two fundraisers. Tonight is a party for a women's learning center and tomorrow night a dinner for our Boy Scout Council.
I'll spend the rest of the weekend getting the house prepped for Thanksgiving company. I need to wash the dining room hardwood floor and dust and vacuum thoroughly everywhere. Where does all the clutter come from? I could spend a day just putting stuff away. I'm going to do the last trimming on the front hedges and throw some Christmas lights on them. I have those netting lights - so convenient.
Last night I got all the laundry and grocery shopping done, so I don't have to deal with that.
Still eating better. Forgot my calcium/vit. D pills this morning, dang.
I hope all who are in the hospital, get out soon. And those of you with complications or distresses see some relief soon. I know I hate being sick. Especially when it goes on for long periods. It's depressing. I hope you all can keep your cheer up. Please know I'm thinking of you.

Bev,
I personally (my opinion only) think its too early for Christmas..just thinking about it makes me nervous.
But today in school, during my 1st period class I could hear the band playing..you guessed it CHRISTMAS MUSIC!!!! I just about spit out the water I was sipping.
I guess it comes earlier and earlier every year..but this year money is tight and I almost wi**** would wait to come till at least June!!!
I don't envy you cleaning all week end either ,but I 'll probably be doing the same thing.
Have fun...and don't mind me about x-mas..my kids call me Mrs. Scrooge!!!
