Hi Everyone! I am new here and off to have my psy.visit!
Wow! I just found you all! Hello! My name is Lisa and I live in Niagara Falls, NY - I am 52 so I guess that I officially qualify for this group??? (What does OFF stand for, by the way?) I am mid-way through the preop stages and am seeing the psychologist today - I am planning on having the Lap RNY by Dr. Caruana in Williamsville NY sometime in the near future. VERY excited about FINALLY making my mind up to do this, I have been lurking on this website back to its early days and have been interested in WLS since Carnie Wilson days. Nice to meet you all, and I will talk to you soon!

Welcome to OFF, Lisa. It sure sounds to me that you fit in here....and that is a good thing.
I had open RNY 2 years ago at the age of 53. I wish that I would have found it earlier but someone told me that I got it when I should have and I agree with that. I am a firm believer that nothing happens by mistake.
Please feel free to post on our daily threads...like the what's new one. We just sit and chat and tell what is up in our lives or what we are planning on doing. We just pull up a comfy chair and our favorite cuppa and just chat among ourselves. It is something that I look forward to every morning. We are like a big family here.
Hope to see you often and if you have any questions there is someone here that has the answer for it. Welcome to the family!

Hi Lisa and welcome to OFF. This is a great group and I'm sure you'll enjoy meeting all of us (well, at least I hope so). I had lap RNY 5 1/2 years ago and have lost 180 pounds, kept off 170 (10 pounds have crept back on, unfortunately). Good luck with the psych evaluation. I still see a psychologist to keep my emotional eating at bay, although lately I've been doing a little stress eating, which is bad.
I too wish I had done this years ago. It has been a lifesaver for me.

Hi Lisa and welcome to the best group on OH.... (am biased)
Consider yourself a "kid" in this forum.... I had my surgery at age 59 am now 61. Each of us has a difference story to tell about our journey. However, we all have similar situations in that we have had difficulty with food. We share our struggles and triumphs, we laugh, cry and show every emotion known to humans. We are like a family .....
WELCOME
Millie
