Good Day from the central Oregon coast! I just realized the other day that I'll soon be 61. So, in answer to your question "what's old?", George, it's ME. Wouldn't it be grand if we could have the knowledge that comes with our age but have a youthful body? That's what I'd like. No arthritic knees and hips and, most of all, no saggy skin!

Here on the central coast of California, quince is new and old.  I have aquired a plentitude of this strange inedible fruit.  But after a little internet research, involving much coring and grating, I have put up a batch of quince jam for Christmas presents.  This funny fruit turns pink when boiled with sugar and lemon juice and tastes like a cross between apple and pear.  Who knew?
