Missed you all!

Hi there all!

I have missed you all and will try to check in more often.

My 2nd year anniversary was last Saturday and I can’t believe it’s been that long. I am doing well, but have had some regain. Just trying to wrap my head around the fact that it’s not the same as before and that I can get these few pounds off, I don’t have to do like I have done in the past. To do this will be a HUGE success and triumph for me, seeing that I truly don’t have to do what I have always done when this happens. The other thing is, that in the past, by this time, I would have gained all back and more. I have never kept this amount of weight off for this long ever! I will keep you all posted. All my clothes but my skinniest jeans still fit! So it’s all good, I just need to stay on track and keep doing the good things I do for me.

I can’t believe I am still walking my treadmill and have added Yoga to the mix one time a week. My sister and I go to a place called the Mellow Monkey and do a gentle yoga. Would love to do it more than once a week but right now the budget won’t allow it.

So, that leads into the fact that Tom has not found a “job" but I am now the main breadwinner in the family and he continues to go for his doctorate. He does have 3 PT grad assistant jobs on the campus that helps with the cost of his tuition. This is great for his resume and experience. He is a teaching assistant for one of our local state Senators, and does some web work for his advisor, and his last job is doing research for some of the profs. In the last position he is also able to have his name on the paper the professors publish so he also gets to be “published." Still getting unemployment and because his job went out of the country, he is in the process of getting his doctoral program approved for Federal Assistance. He has jumped through all of the hoops and they were some mighty big ones, and we are just waiting for approval. His Work Source case worker thinks it is a pretty good bet that it will all go through. Cross fingers, toes, legs and whatever else ya got!

He has also started bookshelves in the library off of our dining room ( just a little room, not fancy as it sounds) and does this for a break from school work.

All in all, life is good and I am so happy I have had this surgery; I don’t like to think about how life would be if I hadn’t. Thanks to all of you for all of the support, encouragement, friendship, laughs, and wisdon you have shared with me these past 2+ years. Sometimes you guys were the only thing that saved my nerves and kept me going. Thank you!

You sound busy and happy. Don't be such a stranger!

My brother became unemployed today, too.

Thanks, Eileen, I will try not to but my work mentally drains me and I am a lump when I get home. Sorry to hear about your brother.

Hey Margo!

Have been keeping up with your moving plans, and work and such. Hope everything falls into place for you guys.
Yep, I am trying, not easy tho...
I stopped making my evil granola bars last week so that should help. Tom said he had noticed a weight gain after eating them for a while too. Evil I say, evil....but so damn good!

Take Care,
Cheryl

Hi there sweetie Annette,

I am sorry you are feeling yucky. I hope you and the docs can figure out something to help. I know that I HAVE to take an anti-depressant or life is the s*@ts. I periodically think I can stop it (celexa) and OMG! My poor husband! I cry at the drop of a hat and start thinking every woman is wanting my husband, and I think life sucks and nothing is going to be OK. Somehow, I figure it out (my sis and husband may give me gentle hints), start back on and things straighten up and life seems much easier to handle. This particular AD does not stimulate my appetite, and actually helps with sleeping. So honey girl, hang in there and see what they got for ya!  Maybe something will do the trick.
Take Care,
Cheryl
