It has been a very rough night
So sorry to hear about your loss. I don't get to this forum often and when I read this it brought back so many memories. My husband and I lost our first greyhound only 6 months after we got her. The first greyhound you rescue is really special. They are such wonderful, gentle creatures.

Taffy Crunch (the white one) was our first greyhound and she was what I consider to be the sweetest animal there ever was. She had cancer (osteoscarcoma) and within weeks of diagnosis, she had to be put down. My husband STILL hasn't gotten over it. We still have Murphy (the black one). He is almost 14 years old. He's got cataracts, is going bald and is senile (goes outside and forgets how to get back in), and he is still going
strong.
You need to take time and then maybe foster for a while until your other greyhound recovers and can choose a partner for himself. Murphy mourned Taffy for several weeks and didn't like any of the fosters until we got Star. He liked her, so we adopted her. She also got osteoscarcoma about a year and a half after we got her. Seems greyhounds have lots of problems with that.
Hope you know that my thoughts are with your whole family. The loss of a dog is just as painful as the loss of any other family member.

We lost Rudd 4 years ago October 1st. He was very special. He chose Mary. She went to look at a Greyhound Unlimited adoption show and he went right to her. She tried to look at others, but every time she went past Rudd, he tried to pull to go to her. We had had him for a few years. We got Flyte four days after he died. We added Pride about a year later. I seriously doubt we will wait long to get a replacement. I talked to GU and they are looking for an affectionate greyhound for Mary. She loves to love on her dog.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
They are all different and all very special. We have sort of "switched" breeds because my husband is so dishearted about the way the greys seem to have so many problems. Murphy is still with us, and I hope after he goes we can get another grey. They are just so very special.
Good luck in the search. I know there is another beautiful, gentle grey out there waiting for you. I think anyone that has a grey will always love them. They are just so special, each and every one!
