My protein powder doesn't have to be mixed with milk, I just like it better that way and I'm getting in more calcium that way too.l  I don't always use 2 cups of milk, but I don't mind.  I'll check out the fuzzy navel with vitalady.  I really need to branch out.  I bought some beneprotein, and it's supposedly unflavored, but I can't stand the taste.  Maybe I'll try baking with it.

Jan, Margo isn't the only one who thinks the nectars are too sweet, but there's nothing saying you have to mix them according to the package directions. I don't mix them with 8 oz of water, more like 10-12 oz. You can use 1/2 scoop of protein mixed with Crystal Lite, too. Even if you only use one scoop a day(spread out over 2-3 servings) you're still upping your protien by over 30 grams a day.

I always mix my crystal light with more water too.  I just ordered some, and they say they're 23 grams of protein each.  I ordered 7 samples, so we'll see.  I can use the increase in my water consumption too.  Thanks.

wow Jani your cholesterol is great.  Mine was 200 the last time she checked it.  That was the week after surgery.  Hopefully it is down a little by now. 

I am going to stop drinking the protein drinks and see what happens.   I will try to get all my protein in with my meals.   I have to give it a try.  I better lose more weight in the next nine months or I am going to be a failure and don't even know why!

I do weigh myself everyday which is not good.  I can't help it, it is an obsession..lol 

I am looking at the good.. No more diabetes medicine.. Lower cholesterol and lower blood pressure.  I don't take dirutics any more either.  So, on the plus side I am doing well.

I will take the time to breathe and start again and see what happens.

We're in this together, having our surgeries just two days apart.  I should listen to my own advise.  Try not to focus on the scale and how much weight you're losing, but focus on the 'No more diabetes medicine.. Lower cholesterol and lower blood pressure.  I don't take dirutics any more either.  So, on the plus side I am doing well.Good stuff.  That's what I'm trying to do right now.  We'll see in a couple of weeks (Oct 21) at my three month checkup what my doctor has to say.  I hope he's pleased.
We'll get thru this.  I guess we should listen to everyone else.  After all, we're only, not even, three months out.  You keep me going and I'll keep you going.

mary--it IS very frustrating and i do not understand why you are not losing more pounds-however- and forgive me if you have said this-have you been taking measurements?? often the size falls off even if the scale doesn't move--and you have already taken off a whole person--your body is probly in protection mode- not sure what you are trying to do to it!! hanging on to everything in case you stop eating altogether-so you really need to trick it--do you get plenty of water-plain ol water or crystal lite type things?

walking is an excellent exercise- maybe add some weights to your ankles?-vary your speed a lil? or ad an incline (slight)..?

none of us would ever say to go against your doc or your nut-but something is not right for only a 6# loss in that time--

well-jani's right-you do need to breathe!!!!!
and like carla said-rome was not built in a day-that is a hard lesson for all of us when trying to lose!!!!!

what are you doing wrong? probly nothing but weighing yourself ....tho i do agree with susan about not using milk in your protein drinks-only to lighten the calorie intake....

anyhow- hugs and don't give up!!!!

Hi Margo...

First, how are things with you?  It is wonderful with all the stuff you have going on you can take the time to add support.  You are a good person.

I am going to stop the shakes. Maybe it was adding to many calories for me.  I do know, I have lost inches.  However, I am watching the scale., and that is everyday.  Not good to do, but I can't help it.   I try to get the required amount of liquids, usually I make it through the day.

I know, something is not right that I am losing so slowly.  I am going to see what happens now. Just try to get all my protein in with the food.  That is all I can do is try something different.

Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to post.  I appreciate it

I would be interested in seeing your journal for the past couple of weeks. That usually tells all...what brand of protein are you using? I am all for protein supplement shakes.....they don't have to have lots of calories or sugars....there are many that taste good...

So, if you like, send  me your journal privatley and I'll check it out. Journal is everything that passes between your lips......amounts, etc.....

I use sparkle.com.  Though I am not good at keeping it up everyday.  I have to be more dilligent in adding my food intake everyday.

I can tell you the last two days what I have had and it is not much.  One scrambled egg for breakfast, Cottage cheese for lunch and a scrambled egg for dinner.   I am going to try and eat more today.  I cut out the protein drinks yesterday.  My doctor also told me to cut out the drinks and just get my protein from food.  But I don't think I can make it with just eating so I drank two or three a day.    

I use the body fortress drinks from walmart.  They don't have many carbs or sugar in them or I wouldn't drink them.  I really watch the carb intake and the sugars on things I eat.

Today I will try to up my protein a little.

Thanks for offering to look at my journal.   I did write everything down a few weeks ago but started to do the sparkle.com.  I am just not good at doing it everyday.  Sorry!!!
