What's New, Wednesday????
good wednesday morning! roxie and i had a strange nite but slept most of it-went to bed waaay too early yet slept so i know i needed it! i think i'm only up now cuz i have to drive that hour to get to the hospital to pick up my michael.....
candy--i used to really enjoy cooking and baking--i sewed and i loved to iron when it was for fun-not under pressure cuz you need it right this minute! i, too, did my dad's hankies and the pillow cases..i even learned how to do his shirts well! sprinkling water with the coke bottle!!! growing up, my adopted mom couldn't boil water ot sew on a button so my skills came from gramma and great aunts , eventually teachers!
i spruced the house a bit this morning- running a small load of laundry and did some dishes- picked up papers, etc--need to feed the birds and run the vac befor ei leave- and i am thinking a good breakfast--
i truly would love to get my labs done- i'm 5.5 years out and i think it's been 3 years since i have had them done- i know-bad --but it's due to lack of insurance- i had the scrip in my purse when our ins was dropped by michael's company ...sooooo....i use susan's by the toothbrush mode and it works better except taht i have put teh pill sorter away when we show the house so it's still not a great system--have been taking b12 at work so that helps! when i am there!!!!
today i am just focusing on getting michael home and keeping the house straightened in case of a showing....i'll post seperatley about his stent and the reasons for the need- also update on aneurism surgery--but i think i'll wait til later cuz i don't really wanna sit here all day!!!
it's 49* out but feels much colder- and the wind-standing in my kitchen the trees blowing look like before winter blows in--does that make sense? actually there is talk of snow on monday tho i am thinking a few flakes only...
so great to see marti posting-
hugs and prayers and thanks to you all.....

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

I'm up. It wasn't a very successful night's sleep. VERY windy here, and I have a window in my bedroom that isn't too perfect a fit. When the wind is strong, and blowing just right, there's LOUD "hooting" noise. Over and over. And over.... I went to the guest room to sleep, but first had to clear off the bed of junk, and the noise followed me, I swear! I slept in fits and starts, and the cats were very restless.
A nap will be in order before work. Wonder if I could sleep in the car? The garage is at the end of the house farthest fromt he bedroom.
Well, instead of complaining, I should be happy that I again don't have to mow the lawn or move leaves.
I need to think about the cute nose, right Thelma?

I have a funny story about ironing......
My niece and I had a shop selling new, vintage & antiques. We regularly had in old linens that needed cleaning and pressing. This job was given to mom, who was meticulous about her ironing and starching.
My niece was always amazed at the beauty of the linens when they were starched & pressed. She thought it would be neat to offer a class in "Old Fashion Ironing Techniques". We still laugh about it. To her ironing was flinging the clothing on the iron board and pressing just enough to get wrinkles out 5 minutes before running out the door.
I keep my ironing board up all the time. I love the look of a newly pressed clothing item. Plus, with all the sewing I do, I need to have the iron handy.
Cooking........ that's my passion. This time of year I automatically start buy to cook. So far I've managed to keep it to healthy meals.... meats, squash, apples etc. I did buy ingredients for Chocolate Chip cookies. My Gdau asked for them. I'll have to do them one day and take them to her immediately. We did OK last year around the holidays but it can be dicey at times.
Margo, glad to hear Michael is doing well. Take care of yourself too.
George, we had our state fair here and I went briefly. They don't get much $$ from me either. I take a debit card just in case I find something unusual I can't get elsewhere.
There were others I wanted to comment on but seems like Old-timers is setting in.
Have a great day... smile and make someone else happy.

Good morning all....:)
I am still trying to figure out why I threw up my protein drink last night. It all came back up about five minutes after drinking it. Maybe I drank too fast. I added frozen berries and ice and made it thicker. It was so tasty.
I slept well last night and go this morning to volunteer at a food pantry. I sell avon too and I have some orders to drop off today.
Need to run to the bank today and have other errands to run.
I am glad everything is ok with everyone. Especially with Michael.
Good to read everyone's post it makes me think of my mom when she used to iron. She passed away in 2000. I could almost smell it through your descriptions. Nice memory.
Have a good day everyone.... I am off to start my day
Catch you all later..

Happy Wednesday! I got up at 0430 like I do every weekday so that I can get my gym time in before work. Work is driving me crazy but at least I have a job. Rain is finally gone. It is supposed to be about 82 today so maybe I can get some planting done when I get home. I am going to put in some mums and pansies. It is such a different planting schedule than I was used to in PA. I have beautiful camellia bushes/trees that bloom all winter. There are wonderful red rose like blooms on these trees through out my yard. They last until about the end of April when it becomes too warm for them. I should see them bloom come December.
Well, not much else is happening today. I have dinner going in the crock pot. I always worry that the house will burn down when I do that.
People reminiscing about ironing reminded me of when I was very small. My mother and grandmother would iron once a week. They would shake the water on the clothes with a small round brush and if they couldn't get to it right away, it would be put in the refrigerator until they could. They always ironed in the sunny kitchen. I like ironing too. It is immediate satisfaction to see something wrinkled turn out so smooth and crisp. I just miss the smell of laundry hung out side. I am going to have to get a clothes line now that I am not so fat and lazy. Have a good fall day.

I love the smell of line dried sheets and pillowcases. I don't have a clothes line up here yet, but am trying to figure out where I could put one. Maybe I'll start to iron my pillow cases too. It would bring back such fond memories. My mom used the coke bottle or beer bottle with the sprinkler thing on the end. She'd roll the clothes up and put them in a plastic bag and pull them out as she ironed. She too would put them in the fridge if she didn't get them all done. I taught my boys and hubby how to iron, because I so thoroughly dislike doing shirts. I will if I MUST, but it's not something I'd do jus because... I'd rather clean a toilet!
I go to have my 3 month labs done on the 15th and then to see my surgeon on the 21st. I hope he's pleased with my progress.
Today my cousin is taking me to her "womans club". I didn't really want to go, because at 58 I'm the youngest -- the baby of the group. We'll see how *****y these old gals are. I don't feel my age any more.

Hi All,
Three pillowcases for the Grands made and one to go. I love sewing. I'd love to hang my sheets out on a line but we have done such a good job inviting the birds to our yard that the sheets wouldn't stay clean for long.
I'm getting that fall nesting instinct where I want to bake, cook, decorate, sew, crochet, etc. But I work full-time and that puts a crimp in that. My cleaning has gotten seriously backed up with my sewing project for the Grands.
Has anyone made apple crisp with Splenda and low fat spread? I'd love a recipe. Stop & Shop had apples - buy one bag get two free.
I need to grocery shop tonight. I'm going to get some things for my new granddaughter like diapers and formula to help my son and DIL out. I told them I'd get all the meats and cheeses for our long weekend with them too. I need protein and last time we were there my DIL made spaghetti sauce with maybe 1/2 lb. of ground beef crumbled in it for seven people. Not enough protein for me and the pasta - definitely not good.
My eating lately has been a disaster. I'm letting too much chocolate into my life. I'm declaring a chocolate free week starting now. I feel about chocolate like Marti feels about wine. But we can do it.
Good thoughts going out for all of you.
Bev
