Memory and eyesight....going, going, gone!
Aloha!
I'm the same....long term memory is pretty good.....but the short term is laughable. In fact my friends and I sit and talk and we have to laugh sometimes because we just can't come up with the name of a movie, or an actor, or what we had for dinner last night, but we remember our telephone numbers from 30 years ago!!
Oh, yeah, growing old is not for sissies!! (saw that somewhere...now I understand)

Aloha Susan......I love hearing others who have the problem of losing too much weight! For about a year now I slowly gained back up to 167 (I'm 5'11" tall) and that was better (shoulder blades weren't so pronounced, etc), but then all of a sudden it started going in the other direction again and now I'm 156 and can SEE in the mirror that I don't look as good as at somewhere in the 160's. I drink 2% milk, eat real cheese, real mayo, etc,. and weight doesn't budge except to go down. I refuse to add junk food, sugar, etc....but I do eat pasta now, and whole grain bread.
Sure is curious how different we all are.....some never quite get to goal, others stay at goal with hard work, and then there are those of us whose bodies seem to like to be thin......and we have to concentrate to NOT lose more.
Thanks for sharing.............!!

What is your vit A level? (hint: around 60-80)
What is your B12 level? (hint: 4 digits)
I am scheduled for cataract surgery end of the month. I'm getting Crystalen HD lens. It's the one that restores the refraction part. And fixing the astigmatism at the same time. I'll be 60 next week.
BTW, I was being told that my cataracts weren't "bad enough" yet. But since I basically read for a living.... and how bad is bad? After I hit someone in twilight? So, I went to another doc and he said, IF you need to read or see at night, now is good. LOL
Someone on another list did it and she is thrilled spitless, as is one of my local buddies who STILL hasn't hit age 50!
Um, and what is your whole vites/protein regimen?

P.S. My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.
Aloha.......I WILL find my last blood work numbers for you. I'm about due for my 3.5 year exam and will get blood work done then for sure.
I'll get back to you when I have numbers.
I do take Vit. A capsules...3 a week, B1....7 days a week, women's multi vitamin (with iron), calcium (1000), B12 sublingual......3 times a week (going to up that to every day even though it was HIGH last blood work and I was told to reduce it), Vit D-3...once a day......Magnesium..one a day. I know I'm forgetting something, but I'll look and get back to you.
Thanks so much for posting.

Which A, how much and what was the last lab level?
B12 can never be too high. No such thing. We don't want to ever see it below 800. I'd say never ever stop taking it. The higher the better.
vit D3, how much? Last labs, D 25 hydroxy?
Magnesium....... what? What are you targeting with it.

Aloha again........Good luck with your cataract surgery. I will be waiting to hear how it goes. I, too, read a lot and it is driving me crazy to strain so much to see words on paper, or computer. I wonder why they give us the "you are 'bad enough' yet for surgery.
I'll be so interested in your experience.
Thanks again!

Good Morning Karen,
I had cataract surgery a year and a half ago. It was a piece of cake! I was in an out and could see soooooo much better afterward. The worst part is putting in all the drops! LOL My vision was terrible before the surgery and afterward it is 20/15. I only had the surgery in my right eye as the left cataract is not "ripe". I have to wear a contact in the left eye because the vision is so bad that glasses were not an option. (I think presurgery my vision was something like 20/200.) Anyway, I cannot wait to get my left eye done, of course the cataract there seems to be a slow grower! LOL Don't put it off if they are ripe. I am not restricted to the contact as I actually have close up vision in my left and far in my right. The mono vision thing makes me nauseated. So I will opt to have distance vision and wear reading glasses. If you have any questions just ask.
Hugs,

Thank you so much Vera.........How interesting that you just had one eye done. That is exactly what my doc is suggesting. One of my eyes is pretty good, but the other is awful. I thought that I would see crazy with just one eye done, but I hadn't that about a contact for the other eye.
I knew I'd get some good answers in here.....and yours is very very helpful.
