Aloha....

Thanks for your insight. It does feel good to know that I'm not alone in these bodily changes. I have felt so good for so long, it is disappointing to have these glitches to deal with....but I will!

Vit A is good for eyes. ADEK vitamins are fat soluble vits. you need fat in your diet to absorb them. Unless you can find dry. I would suggest talking to Michelle (Vitalady).

Darlene...I do take Vit. A three times a week. Maybe I should up that to once a day, too. I do not know what ADEK vitamins are. My vitamin
A is in capsule form. Should I look for it in pills?

Thanks again!

Dry Vit A? ADEK is vit A, Vit D, Vit E and Vit K, they are no****er solublel, they need fat to be carried into your system.

Thanks, Darlene.........I will remember that. My D is dry, but not the A. I'll try to find dry A, but not sure I can. I had a devil of a time finding B12 sublingual on this island. I think I"m going to have to order it onlines.

Aloha,

Karen

karen--my immediate response is b12 also--and the above info is awesome...

as for the eyes- i have worn glasses for distance since 6th grade- in my late 30's i went to bifocals to do cross stitch and watch tv at the same time--now- i am wearing my glasses most of the time-

3 years ago i was told i have dry macular degeneration in my left eye and told vitamins- A and lutein --i use an ocuvite from walmart--and my newest doc appt ; i was also told the right eye has it and the cataracts are starting- no need for surgery yet for me but probly someday-this almost crippled me as much as the mac degen dx did--this doc changed my vitamin routine -a stronger ocuvtite- but cautioned the cataract surgery should be in future-

meantime i make the print huge on here as well- and am considering reader's digest in large print!

i will be curious to see if anyone responds about the surgery itself as i think that is what you wanted to know--

hugs sista!!!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Thanks Margo.....all that everyone has said is SO HELPFUL. My life has gotten so much better since being on antidepressants, and now I have the interest and energy to get these things solved....and I knew I'd get some good advice right here.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

P.S. So glad to hear that Michael's operation wasn't bad news.

I think St. John's Wort is good for memory too.  My mother had cataract surgery and they implanted lenses in each eye.  She had worn glasses almost her entire life, and after the surgery she didn't need any.  She kept insisting that she did, so the eye doctor said to get her some over the counter 1.00 reading glasses to keep her happy.  While she didn't need them any more, she seemed to feel more confident with the glasses than without them.  I had lasik surgery years ago and now I use readers.  I can read a lot of things, but need the readers to read the nutrition labels on boxes and cans etc.  Aging sucks.

Aloha Jani.....It is SO GREAT to hear your mother's story. That's what I was hoping to hear. My brother and ex both had excellent results from their cataract surgery, and they are 3 and 4 years older than me....so I can see my time is coming!

Aloha Karen,

LOL - old eyes - oh yes!  I wore contact lenses to the wedding over the weekend and I guess my old eyes adjusted extremely well to the contact lenses.  I saw great!  Didn't realize my eyes had gotten so bad.

About the memory - oh my!!!!  Senior moments galore here - lol - my long term memory is good, it's the short term memory that gives me problems at times.

It's fun growing old - lol - NOT!

D
