What's New SUNDAY?

Good Morning to OFF,
I'm sitting here waiting for my breakfast. Every Sunday my husband has breakfast with his old boss and he brings his leftovers to me- usually a piece of an omelet and some potatoes. It shows how much food they serve these days that he eats his fill, brings me more than I can eat and then he still gets a second plate of food.
Today we are going to the Pumpkin Fair. We ride our bikes, lock them up at Kelley's (our home pub) and we walk the streets of the fair. Then we have lunch at Kelley's (we sit in the front window and watch the fair goers walking by). After we ride our bikes home we will do some chores and watch some of our favorite programs. Tonight is Dexter I think. Then tomorrow it's back to work...up early, work hard, get ready to do it again.
I'm so sorry that life is taking a hard turn for some of you here, especially Margo. Life is certainly tough at times... thank goodness we have people around us to help shoulder the burdens during those cycles of trials.

Hi Nancy and my OFF famiy:

Swinging bologna sandwiches ... ha! That's funny! I'll have to tell Brenda that the next time I talk to her.Talked to her yesterday ... she said she and Bill went to the unemployment office Friday afternoon to sign up. She had to do the computer work for Bill because he doesn't know how to use a computer and everything is done on a computer now. They are both taking this in stride; neither is overly upset. Bill just doesn't like sitting at home. He wants to work.

Brenda also told me that Shawn's wife is back home but considering moving out. I worry about that; she will be home alone with the baby on Tuesday. I hope that will be OK. I told Brenda that, so it's no big secret ... I think this woman needs help (Shawn's wife).

Not much going on here. After much searching yesterday (because of bad MapQuest directions) I found the Hudsonville Winery ... nice little place, pretty good wine. Now that I know where it is, I'll be back. Nothing cost more than $12, so it's a good deal. Wine was priced between $8 and $12 a bottle. They have this one kind of wine called Exotica, a mix of a lot of fruit flavors. While I was there, someone came in to buy some wine and asked, "So what it this stuff called Erotica?" We (me and the owner) had a good chuckle about that comment, and so did the guy making it once he realized his mistake.

Watched three ballgames yesterday: Twins vs. Royals (Twins won), White Sox vs. Tigers (Sox won) and Dodgers vs. Rockies (Dodgers won). All three big games in the divisional race. If the Twins win and the Tigers lose, the Twins win the Central division. There's also the possibility of a one-game playoff ... it would be Tuesday at the MetroDome in Minneapolis (can't play on Monday because of a football game). Anyway, it's kinda exciting for baseball fans. Today, it's more baseball, football ... hard to decide because the White Sox and the Bears games are on at the same time and they're both televised (unusual that I get to see the Bears, but they're playing the Lions, so I get to watch the Bears). I'll probably flip back and forth between the two. The Dodgers clinched their division, so there's no suspense there anymore. Enough of the sports report, I know George might be interested, but probably no one else ... but I am!

I'm going to make sour cream apple muffins this afternoon ... bought a bunch of apples (and now they're on sale for even less! oh well ...) and then a steak for dinner. Also want to get some of my Halloween decorations up ... I've been meaning to do this all week during my vacation ... now only two days left.

Well, have a good day. It's gloomy, chilly and rainy on and off here again today. Stay warm if you're up north.

Aloha Eileen...I sure would LOVE to have that sour cream apple muffin recipe. I have lots of apples, too.....and just won't eat them all, and hate to have them go to waste.

Thanks!

Aloha Nancy and OFF family........Nancy.......I hope you enjoy your trip. I just don't know how you do all that you do......I'm continually in awe! I want what you have!!!! Can you send me a bottle with some "Nancy energy" inside?

Calm Sunday morning (7:50 a.m.) with barely any movement in the palms outside. Nice change from the wild winds we had last week. My friends and I have given up on trying to keep our homes clean until the cane burning, field plowing, roof installation are over! None of us wear shoes, so we are constantly swiffering our floors so they don't feel gritty to walk on.

As I was driving around yesterday, I saw several HUGE cane fields that are ready for harvest....so we have some days ahead of us with lots of Maui snow! It's black!

Margo....I think about you so often, and have loved our communication over the years. I know you have so much on your plate right now, and I also know that you are a strong woman and will eventually get to where you want to be.

I, too, miss Brenda and worry about the outcome of that whole situation. Her DIL sounds to be like she has serious mental problems that need to be treated before she is left alone with a brand new baby. Hang in there Brenda.........you have lots of people here for you.

Tomorrow my computer goes to the "hospital" and so I won't be on here until it's fixed. For some reason this morning it's working fine. Wouldn't you know it. It's like when you take your car in for a strange sound, and it doesn't do it for the mechanic!

I hope you all have a day that gives you something wonderful that you didn't expect. Stay open ....... I sometimes pray that I stay out of my own way, so that I can hear what the Big Kanuna wants me to do.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen
