Good morning, George!

Sorry your Rangers didn't make the playoffs, but it sounds like you really enjoyed the season. I'm glad Mary is feeling better and you're going to the State Fair. I'm sure you won't be spending $$ on that cruddy food there, and isn't that a good thing? I hear they are serving up "deep fried butter" this year!  When the two SIL's are here we'll go to our Fair. The older SIL wants a deep fried Twinkie..... but it if that's what she wants, well find one for her. I don't think I could have eaten one of those BEFORE surgery.....yuck

Busy weekend here getting ready for the big visit. In order to put the bed back up in the guest room, all of the SaintBella stock, supplies and equipment had to be moved to the sunroom. What a job, and it's still not done, but the heavy stuff is, thanks to Gary and the dolly.  More of the same today, with the addition of laundry, cleaning the fridge (no food in it, so it's a great time), and finishing up the SaintBella move.

Okay, one more cuppa then I'm up and at 'em. Everyone have a great day!

My brother Gary tried chocolate covered bacon at the Wisconsin State Fair ... said it was pretty good.

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

We are not the fair goers that the business portion of the normal Fair wants.  We do not do the rides or the Midway.  We go see exhibits.  We normally bring our own drinks, and this year I intend to bring about 6 quarts of Crystal Light with me.  (3 for me and 3 for Mary - should be enough).  The one food we have to have is Tornado Taters.  We used to get an order each when we went out there.  Since surgery, we get one order and throw part of it in the trash.  The other thing I may want to try is the deep fried butter.  You read it right.  They take a tablespoon scoop of butter and coat it in batter, then deep fry it.  When you bite into it, it is like having a bisquit with melted butter.

Gary and I are the same, George. Even before WLS we didn't buy food at the fair, none of it really appealed to us. We do enjoy the exhibits and just people watching. The AR State Fair has pig races. Yep, they're little piglets they put silks on, like race horses. They run around a track to be the first to get to the plate of Oreo cookies. It's a scream, I tell you!

Let us know about the fried butter.

Hi George and my OFF family:

Yeah, George, the baseball season was over for us a long time ago (well, a few weeks ago) ... the only thing for the Sox was to be spoilers, and they did that for a couple of days a least. Couldn't finish the job, though ... but Verlander's a tough pitcher. There's still a play-in game for the Tigers-Twins yet. I'll miss it, though, because I go back to work Tuesday and the game's at 5 p.m. (I'll get to see a half hour of it).

But my Bears won at least ... crushed the Lions (what else?). Sorry about your Jets. The Saints are pretty tough this year. Glad you could win something off the Cowboys (know you don't like them). I'm not much of a gambler, either ... I used to buy 50-50 tickets at the high school games sometimes, and occasionally I'd win something ... twice I won, once I won about $50 and another time I won more than $100 (I thank the big high school kid that was attracting all the interest of the scouts back then for that money).

Last day of vacation ... it's gloomy again. The clouds may burn off, the weather guy said this morning. I'm not counting on it. I have an appointing at 11:30 with my psychologist but other than that, I don't have any big plans. I will get my Halloween decorations up today ... yes I will! I have some stuff out of my garage and into my living room at least. But after making muffins yesterday, I didn't feel like doing much else. I need to make some more turkey rollups too because I'm out and those are my prime source of snacks.

Hope everyone is well and has a good day. I'll check back later when more are up.

Good morning Offers.....George what a horrible thing to say about the Cowboys, i think they ought to revolk your Tex. citizenship lol....I have been a die hard Cowboy fan since they were formed but the last few years they leave a lot to be desired ...still i hang on hoping ...for the older days and the glory days ..
today i am paying bills , just paid off my last credit card and in the process of cutting it up now. will make the phone call to close out the account today. that was the last of 4 of them that we had maxed out. and in the last year we have managed to pay them all off. NO MORE CREDIT CARDS....i just cant handle them ....i forget you have to pay for it eventually lol
Im getting things set to have my left knee totally replaced on November 3rd. so have been exercising the muscles in the upper thigh to get them ready for more exercise.  When i had the Rt knee replaced 2 years ago i did 3 weeks of therapy and then went on a cruise. I wasnt using even a cane at that time so hope i get along as well this time...
It is cold here this morning , has been all week end too one morning it was down to 42 that is really close to frost which they are precdicting next week , this is way too early for frost down here , but this whole year has been like one whole month ahead of time.  My iris in the springtime bloom in the middle of May this year it was April that they bloomed and so it went all spring and summer long. we only had about one week that could really be called hot and humid . i think they have it all wrong instead of being the green house effect i think it is the ice box effect. ...

need to get into the garden today and pick all the remaining veggies that are hanging on. not a lot left except some eggplant and some okra....oh and those tabasco peppers , what was i thinking of when i planted 6 plants of those lol

more cleaning in the flower beds today to take out all the dead and dying flowers , such a sad time of year for me . if it werent for the many many mums i have and now the reblooming iris are blooming , i could get quite depressed.  im gathereing seeds and drying mints and starting new starts of coleus and other plants ...

Margo best wishes and will be praying for Mike tomorrow.

TIME OUT!!!

(not yelling at you)

I am not a Texan.  I live in Texas.  There is a difference.  I am a Yankee.  I was born and raised in NY on the southern shore of Long Island.  I always told my wife I was only buying one house, so she better pick a house and area she likes.  My last Air Force assignment was in Fort Worth, so we ended up here.

(And seriously, don't misunderstand the all caps.  I just wanted to attract your attention and anyone else who does not know this about me.).  LOL

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

George:

I get the same thing from all the folks in Michigan ... why aren't you a Tiger fan and a Lion fan when you live in Michigan? Well, I wasn't born here ... I was born in Chicago (actually was born in Chicago, raised in Franklin Park, out by O'Hare Airport ... the nuns had to stop teaching when the airplanes went over the school, the noise was so loud). My dad was a big White Sox fan even though he grew up on the north side ... he hated Wrigley. He was also a Chicago Cardinal fan, but by the time I grew up, the football Cardinals were in St. Louis, then flew off to Arizona. So I became a Bears fan. Dad hated Halas, too ... don't know why.

As to why I'm not a Lions fan ... well, look at their record!

As to why I stay a White Sox fan when they drive me crazy ... it's in the blood. But then they once in a century win a World Series and reward me (my poor dad never got to see it, though).
