Question about Chinese food

Hey everyone,

I'll be six weeks out on Wednesday.  My husband is best man in his brother's wedding Saturday.  Rehearsal dinner is Thursday night at a Chinese restaurant.  I have been eating mainly soft foods at this point.
What would be a safe choice for me at the restaurant?  A cup of soup maybe, or should I play it safe and eat before we get there and just drink water?

Have a great Monday!

Egg drop soup would probably be OK. It's mostly scrambled egg and chicken broth. I don't know what else you've tried or what your doctor would recommend. Have you eaten any meat (like chicken) that you've chewed to death yet? Every doctor has his/her own requirements.

hi rosey

i was able to do egg drop soup early out, but honestly that was about it for
chinese food for a long time.. and for sure do not try any wonton dumplings, omg
did i get sick when i first tried them.  even today i have to watch things like that.

so i say go with the soup, and maybe bring something with you that you know u
can eat, and then do the tea and the water

enjoy, jacki

Tons of sodium and lots of fat in almost all chinese food.  I love it but I still can't eat it after almost 3 years.  Get sick about 75% of the time so I quit altogether.  But then again I still get sick on lots of thngs. I hope you have better luck. For now I would stick with the soup.

rosey--i can eat a lot of chinese-but i am over 5 years out--so many things have hidden sugars ( i dump ) and oil or fats...msg or sodium...the egg drop soup or wonton broth would be safe- hot tea is always calming..water is safe! and maybe a protein bar if you are using them-stick it in your purse in case!--maybe they would have cottage cheese????

always best to play it safe when going out--it's bad enough to dump or get something stuck at home but in public--ouch!

enjoy yourself tho!!!!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Debbie,
I was able to eat the Egg Drop Soup almost from the start.  I love it of course.  I'm gotten shrimp chop suey and not had a problem with it.  Actually, I haven't had a problem with any of the chinese I've eaten, but I've stayed away from all things fried.  Chinese had a lot of vegetables and meat.  Like I say, I haven't had any problems.  To be safe I'd get a cup of Egg Drop and call it a day.

I have been eating dim sum since  very early out, anything with shrimps that is not fried.,
though I can and do            eat some deep fried squid .

We eat vitenamese, thai and chinese often and I find as long as I choose carefully I am fine,

They often have a  hot/  sweet and sour soup has tofu in it which you should be able to handle not sure about the vegetables though. Bean sprouts on the whole go down well too,

More importanly enjoy the company, which I know you will and enjoy each moment of this new journey.

Thanks for all of the replies.  To play it safe, I may just drink water.  I could order the egg drop soup and just pretend like I'm eating it - lol - I don't want to get sick while I'm out.

I really would rather not even go to the rehearsal dinner, but my DH wants me to ride down with him.  We live over an hour or so away, so I guess he wants my company - lol -

Thanks again!

Debbie...I really don't think you would get sick if you just have the broth....but it is up to you...I totally understand.
Hope you have a good time anyway!
