Oh what a beautiful day in Michigan!    windy but so gorgeous!  this is my favorite time of year,
Grannylew.   Trying OT care for our elderly parents  doing what is best for them and still doing what they want done is so hard!  My mom ended in a care facility  last summer because she cant manage at home anymore and I'm the only one with room and the health to care for her and my stepdad but we live so far from the rest of the family and their church,  friends and teds golf and bowling  she didn't want to come here.    I worry about my stepdad being alone.
All you can do is your best.  Ill keep the good thoughts going to the Man upstairs that things come out all right.
Ill be praying for those having surgery and such also
Have a good day everyone

Hi Eileen and Friends -

We had a busy, yet restful weekend.  Hornet's playoff game Sat. at noon - WE WON - GEAUX HORNETS.  Sat. evening we had a potluck dinner with the AARP group we belong to.  Sunday @ noon, church family day picnic and @ 4:00 we had a crawfish boil.  Mostly sitting around talking and visiting with friends.

I posted separately about my coworker's (Ann) daughter so it wouldn't get lost within this thread.

Friday night I cooked jambalaya for the potluck dinner, Sat. I put a roast in the slow cooker before the Hornet's game and delivered it to Ann Sunday morning.  We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a Suite for the Hornet's game - gave our tickets to some friends so they wouldn't go to waste.  WOW - got to see how the rich people view the game!  Unlimited beer, soft drinks, bottled water, red beans and rice, hot dogs and chili, chicken tenders, miniature meat pies, and cookies.  I behaved, had some beans and chili, a meat pie, and one chicken tender, shared a cookie with George, and stuck with bottled water!  Decent choices at the potluck.  Church picnic was hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans, cole slaw, had a burger and a dog, no bread, a spoon of beans, and a couple of bites of George's piece of chocolate cake.  He's a chocoholic, so there was no way I could get any more than two bites.  The crawfish boil turned out great, lots of protein.  I did have one mini ear of corn and one small potato, but lots of crawfish!  I brought a crystal light peach tea laced with a splash of wine - WOW was that good!  Passed on the desserts!

Tonight is another Hornets playoff game - wish we could get in the suite again!

Aloha OFF "kids"........Eileen, thanks for the start and for sharing your life so deeply with all of us. Your plate is always so full, and you are a true survivor. I admire you.

Lots happening with so many of you......I always "talk" to you in my head, but don't always post something. Doesn't mean I don't care.....I do. Shared problems and successes are so positive aren't they. Sometimes I just come in and read and feel better if I'm down. Knowing I'm not alone in a bad place can sometimes turn it around totally. I feel guilty when I don't thank you all for lifting me out of a funk without telling you that you have contributed to that.

This morning is glorious on Maui!! It's one of those cloudless skies, smooth as glass ocean mornings that beg for going outside. Soon I will put on my swimsuit and go out on the lanai and read for a couple of hours. My best sun is from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. (7:00 right now)....and then the sun goes past the roof and I'm in shade the rest of the day which is wonderful when it's hot. Our whales are getting fewer and fewer......many already headed back to Alaska for their feeding season. We will miss them.

I need to do some birthday shopping today. May is a BIG birthday month in my family. My brother (16th), my youngest grandbaby (1 on May 13) and my DIL May 11th. I can't afford the gifts I would love to send, so I'm going to have to be creative this year. Seems so many of us are having to make life changes in this economy.

I'm rambling....but just didn't want to stay in the shadows this morning....but wanted to contribute something. Here's hoping that those of you struggling have some relief today, and that everyone has something to smile about today.....laughter would be even better.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen
