Ladies: post wls armpits

 THIS TOPIC IS THE PITS.........

I have been holding my skin tight with one hand and  try to reach in with the razor and get the hairs without scraping the skin.  I use a magnifing mirror and try my best to shave left handed.  It hasn't been working well.  I've avoided shaving and justify not shaving by wearing long sleeves.    What a trial and error.  The razor burn lasts longer than the hair growth.  Sigh....  then I have to reach in a pluck that one or two hairs I miss.  Aaarrgghhh

Now, why didn't I think of using Nair?  I use it on my lip....

LESSON LEARNED:   No question is too silly, stupid, or bizarre to ask.....  just look at how many of us were "enlightened".....   (snickering)....

Thanks  Margo

Waxing is also an option I forgot to mention. I doesn't hurt nearly as badly as you would think, and it lasts a loooooooong time. Much less expensive that laser/electrolosis.  I would even consider going to a local beauty school for a good deal!

It's all about technique.  First of all, the hair can't be longer than 1/4 inch, and if it is, it must be trimmed. Then, the wax has to be applied WITH the growth of the hair, with a thin film of wax. When removing the wax, the skin must be stretched very tight and the strip pulled really fast in the opposite direction of growth.
The first time waxing any area is always more painful if the hair has been shaved previously. After waxing, hair grows back in much softer and is much easier( and less owie) after that.

I guess 33 years of doing this teaches you lots of tricks.

Mine are actually easier to shave than they were when I was 377 lbs. Not so many rolls to get around and my reach is better. My biggest problem is I am darn near blind; so nearsighted that if I can not get within 3 inches I can't see! I like Nair in the summer especially when wearing capris. My hair is light on arms and legs not so much in more private areas. I too don't understand why those stubborn little white chin hairs won't come off with Nair. Karen S, you're not the only one who uses a razor on her chin! Oh, the comradery on this board~ What would we do without each other? People in the "regular world" just can't understand.

Karen, do you mean those chin hairs that you can only see in the rearview mirror while stopped at a singal light?  I've thought about keeping tweezers in my console just for that reason!

I had a mole on my chin that had a hair growing out of it. Had the dermatologist remove it, not only because I hated the mole, but I wanted to be rid of the chin hair. Damn thing grows there anyway.

Couldn't use a razor, so I've been using hair removal cream like Nair.  Washes off while I'm in the shower...painless and effortless.

Susan

Waxing would probably work on those bristly chin hairs too wouldn't it?

Oh yeah!   And when the hair grows back it's soft, not stubbly

thank you everyone!!!!!!!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.
