stress...

i stumbled across this board quite by accident but believe it was God ordained.  I need  a place amongst my peers.  I have been having trouble with stress.  The level of stress in my life has NOT changed but my ability to deal with it has.  I feel so brittle lately.  Anyone else endured this post-op.  I am five months out and can add that prior to surgery I was on a ton of meds--none of which I am taking today--including anti-depressants.  I'm menopausal and it just seems like I could SNAP over the littlest things.  I think I need a cheerleader today.  Any thoughts, ideas?
Big Hug your way, Nannyre

Okay, so I sort of hijacked your post, forgive me!  I have been stressed lately so I have started cussing and looking at pictures of hot men, it has helped tremendously! Have a look see http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/41/Simon-bak er.jpg

Thanks, Connie,  It is good to be here amongst my peers!  when you say whack, I picture myself with one of those mallets whacking away at something or somebody!  I am feeling somewhat better just sharing my feelings!  I know I am not alone and that is comforting!  Big Hug your way 2day!  Marie

Hi Nannyre,

I'm 5 months out, too, and in the same boat as you, however my psych. changed some of my meds and I'm doing much better.  Don't be afraid to talk with your doctor and ask for something else, at least for a little bit until your body and mind get "settled" in their new surroundings.

Hang in there . . . . Elaine
All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press
on to your destination.

Walking in nature, observing the critters and flowers with awe and gratitude, does wonders for my stress levels.  I highly recommend that and a good anti-depressant.

Hang in there...Carmel Valley Linda

Wow Marie, you have had the same experience I did!!  This board is awesome.  I also feel it was God ordained that I stumbled across it quite by accident.

I'm not post-op, but I have experienced so many of the symptoms you are talking about.  It's an awful edgy feeling like everything inside of you is running around and can't find a place to sit.  One thing that helps me is to just stop whatever needs doing, and there's always something, and go to a quiet place and meditate.  I have learned relaxation techniques that are sooooo helpful.  For me the quiet is essential to help quiet my body and my mind.  Then I do deep breathing and relaxation until I'm quiet inside too.  I'm sure there must be things on the internet about it that you could find.

If you are not able to live with your situation, then call your doctor.  There are meds for this.  Thinking of you today, and wishing you well my friend.

Walking with you on this journey, Mary
