Help I am eating constantly!
Go walk the mall, but get out of the house. I have exactly the same problem and the only effective way I can avoid eating is to get out of the house. I go to the mall, to the gym, gardening, church groups, volunteer work, anything to get away from it. Perhaps the most helpful thing is keeping nothing I really want to snack on. No nuts, no sugar free cookies, no sugar free candy, no ice cream except SF fudgecycles and popcycles, Protein kills my hunger the best so I eat jerky. That's really satisfying and cuts hunger. Finally if its realllllllly bad, I take an appetite suppressent. Hope that's helpful. Come over we'll go walking together, lol.
Walking with you on this journey, Mary
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Try wearing an old-fashioned girdle. I had a lower body lift 4 weeks ago tomorrow and am still wearing a compression garment (from under my bra to the borrom of my torso that has hook & eyes in the front). Twice in the past 4 weeks I've tried to eat a little more than usual (once at a China buffet and once at Easter dinner) and both times I felt sick, like an anaconda was squeezing me. I had RNY, but on Easter I thought what a great idea to keep people from overeating....they don't really need a lab band; a tight girdle will do the same thing. I've already started telling my co-workers, friends, and family members who want to lose weight but don't want to go the surgery path. The one I have I purchased from Penny's and much heavier than spanks. I like it so much that I went out yesterday to purchase a second one.
I've been reading posts here on OH for 3 years and have never saw anyone suggesting wearing a girdle to help control eating. I hope you try it; it may be something new.

There are some excellent suggestions. Here are a couple more:
1 - plan ahead and try to stick to the plan
2 - JOURNAL every drop and morsel you put in your mouth
3 - attend a support group
4 - get rid of any non-essential foods in your house
5 - go back to basics
6 - come here often for support
Sounds like you are bored? When I am tired or anxious, I am most vulnerable. or stressed or lonesome ... you get the idea? We have a life time of poor eating habits which are always waiting to surface. Good luck. You can do this.

Linda, I can totally relate to not knowing how to deal with emotional stress without my favorite comfort - food. Look at it this way. You have the wonderful opportunity to try something different in your life. Food will be there to comfort you if nothing else works but try something else first. Here are some suggestions:
write in a journal
pray
exercise - bike, kayak, walk, play frisbee, play tennis, swing
sleep
take a bath
get a massage
have sex
color
draw
do a puzzle
read
go to the bookstore, get a cup of tea and read travel books or magazines
watch a funny movie
go shopping and try on clothes (my new favorite)
do some volunteer work
play with kids
blow bubbles
I'm sure there are a million other things. The point is try something new. Food will still be there if you have to use it.
Hugs and prayers to you.
Kim
