My name is Sharon and I'm a new poster.  I am 64 and hoping to have RNY in the next couple months.  I've got all my tests out of the way and see my surgeon on April 28th.  I'm so anxious to move forward.    I've lost 24 lbs. on my own in preparation for surgery and have a whole new appreciation for protein.
I have learned so much from reading the posts on OH and have just found the over 50 forum.  I was excited to see there are others who have successfully had WLS  that are older,.  I wi**** had been around when I was 25, but it's still not too late.  I'll be posting and reading every day.  I'm so glad you're here!

Hello Sharon,
Welcome to the Over 50 group! It sounds like you are ready for a big change in your life! I hope that you will post often and let us get to know you. There are many of us who have had success after 50 and the support of this group helps us to keep our eye on the "prize"- our healthier bodies and minds (we hope!). Come and make some new friends!

welcome a-board

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Welcome to OFF....it is just about the greatest place on OH.

Please post often so we can get to know you. You are so right in saying that it is never to late to achieve what we wish to, no matter what our age.

I understand what you are saying about wishing it was here earlier because I always said that I wish I had it when I was younger. Then someone told me that I had it at the age that I was suppose to.

Congratulations on the progress that you have had toward the new and exciting life you are about to have.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Thank you for the warm welcome.  I know I will have lots of questions.  It's so helpful to be able to get  information so quickly.  I've started my profile and you're all welcome to read it.  Again, thank you for being so welcoming.

Hey there Rainlady, welcome.  I'm about two months into my journey, asking questions, getting support, and have an appointment next month for a surgical consult.  By then, I'll be three months into my required six-month clinical weight loss group/meetings.  Best of luck to you and welcome!
