I'm so excited to find this over 50 site. I didn't know it existed until I read a post on the regular board. I usually read and post on the Michigan forum and everyone there is younger than I am. I don't mind being 57, but it will be nice to read some postings that I can relate to.
I'm still pre-op. I've been approved since November but still haven't had a meeting with my surgeon. My first meeting with him is March 22nd and I'm really excited. I hear that he's scheduling appts for surgery the end of June right now, so I don't suppose I'll get in until August for my surgery. I hope I don't have to wait that long, but who knows. I'm still in the 'last supper' phase.

Welcome! Uh.....did you see the surgeon on March 22nd? Or is that a typo and you'll be seeing him MAY 22nd? Have you done any of your pre-surgery testing, diets, etc?

Whatever stage you're in.........good luck on the rest of your journey!

I think it must have been wishful thinking. I'm seeing him April 22nd. I've gotten all of my approvals and I've had all of my tests (blood, chest x-ray and ekg). Now I just have to meet the surgeon and meet his requirements. Can't wait.

I was sure it was just excitement! I'll keep everything crossed that you get a quick date! I'm envious...I'm still in my pre-surgery diet stage, reading and learning stuff here every day.

Welcome to OFF! Congratulations on coming to the end of one journey and just beginning another one, which is the most exciting journey yet! It is quite a ride but worth every minute of it. Your new and glorious life is just beginning and so I am going to offer you one bit of advice. One that I wished I had heeded but unfortunately one I didn't. I was told to make sure I wrote down all my WOW moments and I didn't I regret that. So.....one of the things I might say to you is to write them down and make sure you date them. You will want to read them over and over again.

Good luck on the last part of your first journey. Time will fly by before you know it and then BAM! your date is here.
