Over 60 and getting a tummy tuck

I am very close to my goal weight and contemplating panni removal surgery.  I have not spoken with a surgeon yet, but I am wondering if it will remove that little roll above the waist that we over 50 folks can get.

Thanks!

I'm not an expert but when I talked to a plastic surgeon about this he said they do not touch anything above the waist when doing a panniculectomy. (unless of course you want to pay extra, probably a lot extra)

Well... I had an LBL October 30, 2008.  I still have my muffin-top. Was told I'd need further surgery for that or lipo.  OR, exercise it off.

I wear a band now to hold it in.  It's not bad, but I'm terribly self-conscious about it.

I did an actual tummy tuck and butt hike but it isn't as tight as I would have hoped.  Looks good and feels normal...but I was looking for a 20 year old body on a 64 year old woman.

Good luck.

My wl surgeon is doing a hernia repair on me and I got approved for a tummy tuck too. Dr. Stanish said that he is going to cut me from the breastbone down past the navel and from side to side. He told me that I will be totally flat when all is said and done. From the sounds of it, it sounds like it depends on the doctor. I have seen pictures of before and after and some are flat and some aren't as flat as I would have thought they would be. I just want it flat and tight......something I have never ever had before. I would like to lose about 10 pounds with it too but whatever is fine with me. Just as long as the hanging skin and the muffin top is gone. Or at least most of muffin top. I am tired of being a bakery around here. No one wants to buy my muffins and I can't say I blame them either. I wouldn't want it either. ha ha

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

I'm 56 - had a Lower Body Lift 3 months ago.  Love it, love it, love it.  Flat tummy for the first time in my life - and NO muffin top.    HOWEVER, if I  understand my surgeon correctly, a panni removal does NOT necessarily fix that "roll".  But, since every body is different, your surgeon should be able to tell you what to expect.

Good luck and best wishes!

What is panni removal surgery?  I'm a long way from any plastic surgery - had a lapband 12/12, but would like to know the terms.  I know my hanging belly will need to be removed thru the hips, and maybe underarms.  I have had five abdominal surgeries and hope it will help towards getting the tummy tuck thru insurance.

I'm 60.

Thanks.

Panni removal is that hanging sking that used to be stomach.  I hate it and want it gone!  My insurance will cover that but not a tummy tuck (little different procedure).

Aloha Joy........Congratulations on getting close to your goal.

I just had a panniculectomy on Dec. 3rd...4 months now...and I LOVE the results. I used to have to lift my panni in the shower to wash...now all is flat and smooth (except for scar which looks like a belly chain). I guess I didn't have much above the waistline because Doc recommended just the hipbone to hipbone surgery where he pulled up skin from bottom and down from the top. You may need a different type of surgery, but this one sure worked for me.

Good luck on anything you choose!

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen
