KNOW ANY GOOD PROTEIN PRODUCTS?

Do any of you know any good tasting (unflavored) whey protein that I can stir into fruit smoothies, applesauce, cereal etc. and not feel like I have a mouthful of sawdust?

I've also never found a good tasting protein drink. Any suggestions? I'm pretty desperate here!!! I know I don't get enough protein and wonder how much that has to do with the fact that I have 3 torn tendons in my shoulder and am having surgery on 4/29. I have no idea how they tore!!!

Reenee, I found that the Muscle Milk Light was the best one for me. Make sure you get the light since that has less sugar. It isn't gritty or anything like a lot of protein drinks are. My bff's son told me about that. He is a weight lifter so he knows his protein drinks well. I got the chocolate milk flavor and it does taste like chocolate milk.......of course not the Hershey's like I use to love.....but it isn't bad that is for sure.

Hope this helps you.

Depends on what you like. AnyWhey is tasteless and you can mix it into anything, even bake with it or cook with it. I've never tried it in applesauce. Kinda smells like bisquick.

I'm not much on most of the protein drinks, but I like Nectar Latte Capuccino ... tastes a lot like my AchievOne Cappucino did ... I add in some instant coffee crystals and SF Kahlua syrup and it really is tasty. I blend it with milk. I really liked AchievOne Lattes but they just got back on the market ... they really tasted like a latte. It was a ready-to-drink shake. Really low in calories and carbs. They reformulated them to get them into juice boxes, so not sure how they are now. You can get them on Netrition.com, shipping is $4.95 for everything you order. They have a good price for these, too.

Hello Reenee....

My favorite protein source is "Pure Protein Bars". I buy them at Walmart although many places carry them. They have only 2 grams of sugar, 4.5 grams of fat, no trans fat and have 20 grams of protein per bar. The Chocolate Deluxe are my favorite. They are a quick snack when I am short on protein and need something quick and are not too filling.

I don't use protein mixes but many other do. I get the majority of my protien from the foods I eat.

Have a good day.

Hugs....connie d

I use Unjury brand protein powder.  Order on their website unjury.com. It is what I had in the hospital and it's the best I've tasted.  No sugar, 1 or 2 carbs and 20 g of protein per serving. It comes in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry sorbet and unflavored.  It is not gritty and mixes well with a spoon or by shaking, no blender necessary. I use the vanilla and the chocolate mixed with my coffee some milk and ice for a cold drink. The vanilla is also good mixed with soda that has gone flat (especially orange or root beer) and a little dash of half & half.  When I mix this with soda I warm about 1/2 cup of the soda in the microwave just to room temp and mix the scoup of protein powder in it so it disolves, then I add the rest of the cold soda and ice.  The unflavored can be mixed into anything but I haven't used it much.  This powder works best  in luke warm to room temp foods and drinks. If the substance is too hot or too cold it doesn't disolve well.

I have had a hard time finding a protein supplement I can tolerate.  If it doesn't taste good I won't eat or drink it.  I just ordered for the first time a product called nectar.  It comes in several flavors.  I bought the fuzy navel.  I was surprised to find that I actually like the taste.  I mixed it with water and added ice to make it cold and it was quite good.  I  had heard that it was really good when mixed in natural orange crystal lite.  I tried that and found it to be very good.  I am so happy that I have found a protein source I can not only live with but enjoy.  It has 23 grams of protein per scoop and no fat or carbs.  YEAH ! ! !  I bought it from bariatriceating.com.

Thanks so much. I'll try it. I agree, I have to like it or I can't get it down! Tried 1 mixed in applesauce and it looked (and tasted) like damp sawdust. It was so thick that if it had been colored I would have sworn it was playdoh. Held it's shape too!!!

Renee,

I am pre-op but have been using protein powder since I started my 6 mo weight management program that was reguired by my insurance.  (completed now just waiting for my surgery date now) I use EAS Premium Protein (choc flav) because I like Choc and it is not choc enough for me I add 2 tsp of SF Nesquick.  I have mixed it with 1% milk, non fat milk and water and like it all 3 ways.  (of course my favorite is 1% milk which I used all thru my program but my surgeon wanted me to switch to non fat which I have done).  I think you just have to find what you like best.  There are websites like vitalady.com that have samples she sells so you could try some there.

Good Luck
