Its Monday April 6, 2009 What is new with you?????
Sorry I have been MIA for a few days!!!!! I was in Orlando with my Odyssy of the Mind kids. We placed 7 out of 17. But didnt make the nationals. I was shocked that they did that well. So I am proud of them.
In 13 hours we are leaving to drive up North to North Carolina for 5 days. Meeting up with Joyce and John, Sheila and our friends for another 4 days after that. I cant wait.
Today we drove around all day. Went to Ft Myers then back to Sarasota, Then to watch the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico. it was awesome.
my skinny butt was getting tired in the back seat of our car.
Well it is 1209 and I need to get to sleep. So talk on folks.

Good morning Carla. Thanks for getting us started.
Hey there to all you other OFFers. What a weekend I have had!!! Made some of my others look like I stood still.
Friday night I had an outing at work. We went to Dave and Busters to eat and play games. Not only did the company pay for the food, they paid us to be there. Went home after that, and of course could not sleep. Not at midnight. No way. So I stayed on the computer until 3:30 or so.
Finally went to bed. Got up and went to the Ballpark. It was a beautiful experience. They have made some upgrades to the Ballpark and they are all great! Sat out in the sun (it was 78 degrees or so) and got sunburnt. Went home to get changed, then went to see a friend's band play. Stayed there 3 hours or so. Went home so Mary could go to bed. I stayed up again, this time about 2:30. Got up at 6:30 to go to church at our old church (first Sunday of every month). Church and Sunday School. Then went out to eat with the class. Genghis Grill. Pretty decent.
3PM we had Support Group. Talked about emotional eating. It really does not affect me, as so often I have to remind myself I am supposed to eat. From there we met a friend for dinner who came into town to join us for the ballgame tomorrow. Mary and I shared a meal. Then got Mary home and I came to work. I am only working 4 hours, as I am meeting my friend (Susie) for breakfast at Cracker Barrell before the game. Then, after the game I hope to take a nap. Then we have Bible study, after which, hopefully another nap. Get to work at 2:15 Tuesday morning.
Can't wait to get back to work so I can rest.

Today is another volunteer day.
Hopefully, I will get my car today. I am adament about making sure everything gets fixed before I pick it up. I have been burned too many times buying other people's problems. I know why they traded in the car and I am glad someone didn't buy it without having the mindsight to have it checked out first. I don't like car dealers who do that. There are always reasons why people sell their cars. Many are due to problems. Anyway, maybe today.

Good Morning Carla and all,
I'm so envious of you that you get to see Joyce and John. Give them a big hug from me. Joyce is very special to me and probably the one person that encouraged me to be an active part of OFF the most. Since then I've met so many wonderful people and love you all.
I spent all day Saturday painting ceilings in the dining room and living room and not done yet. Tonight I need to continue so I can get the house put back together. My body ached so bad yesterday morning when I got up that I had to jump in the hot tub before church.
Yesterday was a fantastic day. I want to thank you and everyone for the birthday wishes. Brenda provided the refreshments for church and the entire congregation sang Happy Birthday. We then went out to lunch with the pastor and about 10 other people. Then we decided to go to the casino and played for 5 hours. Didn't win but had a great time.
I'm so busy at work that I don't know what to do next. Just got a 5% raise last payday so I guess they're trying to get their moneys worth. Luckily my boss is on vacation this week.
Weather has turned crappy again. It was snowing when we came to work this morning. Luckily we're not supposed to get any accumulation.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Morning Carla,
Thanks for getting us going this morning. Honestly George you are going to wear yourself out......we don't want you back in the hospital again....life is too short -- take time to stop and smell the roses....LOL!
It's 32 deg. here this morning in southwest Michigan and everything is covered in SNOW..... we have at least six inches everywhere. The poor trees are hanging low ..... I'll try to get a picture when the sun comes up. It is April, right???
It was raining cats and dogs when I was picked up for Book Club last nite....but unfortunately I didn't melt an ounce. We are doing an autobiography for next month "Tales of a Female Nomad" by Rita Golden-Gelman. This lady has been traveling the world since age 42 and only stays in other people's homes.....she will be here in Sturgis at the end of the month and we are having a tea for her....should be interesting to hear first hand about her travels.
Carla, congrats on your kids doing so well in the Odyssy competition.
I heard from DS yesterday - they are in New Symrna Beach with their 40 charges.....having a blast -- it was 80 deg. there and they were headed to the beach.....they are staying in cabins.
Talked briefly to my cousins hubby yesterday - she got home from hospital but wasn't doing real well -- he said they had a really bad nite.
Please continue to keep Judy K. in your prayers. The visiting nurse had been there and that helped.
Well back to work today - I know my cart will be loaded with new pd files so I'll have tons of work. I am planning to take a support group member to Gr. Rapids Wednesday provided the roads are clear.
Have a great day wherever you are,
Hugs,
Pat R.

Done! Your Ticker:
Good Morning Carla & OFFr's,
That sounds great that your Odyssy kids did so well and I am glad you enjoyed being there. . . hope you enjoy your trip to NC and your visit w/Joyce & John, I want to get settled in this old house of mine and then, if I don't find a job soon, I want to go to NC to visit with my Aunt & Uncle there. . . . and I really would love to see my Florida grands and daughters, but who knows when that will happen. . .oh well. . .
Anyway, I took a break from job hunting for a couple of minutes, as I was getting rather down seeing as the bloodletting is still going in in the legal field, it is a very depressing picture I am witnessing here in this area, I have applied for so many jobs and it is just unbelievable that nothing is happening yet. Sometimes I get messages back that say they are being overwhelmed with applicants and that it may take time to get back to you. . . I am trying to have and maintain faith that it will all work out, but to say I'm not just a little bit scared, well it's just not the case. . .
Last night I fell asleep on the couch trying to catch up on Lost and I don't know when, but I woke up and moved into the bedroom at around 10 of 10, then woke up this morning at 4:15, laid there for a little while and then got up to see what postings there are, as I said, things don't look great right now, oh well, and then lightening and thunder, so the next few days it's going to rain, rain and rain, oh and get colder too, please God, enough already with the damnable rain and gloomy weather that is putting a grey blanket over me, as if I don't have enough to feel depressed about, at least when the sun is out I can feel alive. . . where is the Spring?
Sorry folks, I'm just plain old tired and the "strength" I have is really running out, yesterday I had a day where all I wanted to do is eat crap and I did, today is a new day and I am going to do what is right, but I'm really having and awful time of things right now and while I know this too shall pass, right now it's just a lousy place to be. . .
Thanks for listening. . .
Hugs, Laureen

Good morning Carla and everyone.....
Carla....congrats to you and your Odyssy kids....they did great even if they didn't make the nationals!!
I haven't been on the boards since Friday and I have so much catching up to do.I just wanted to pop in and say a quick hello to everyone and then I will play catch up.
I drove down to Minneapolis early Saturday morning and had coffee with a whole group of my friends from the MN board. I haven't seen them in a long time. It was a really good visit and I am glad I made the trip.
Everything is okay in my world....well as okay as it possibly can be for now.
I hope you all have a really wonderful day. Prayers to those in need.
Love and hugs to all......connie d

For the past few days Tom has been obsessing about having strawberry shortcake. Not the kind with fresh SF berries but the sugar loaded berries, ice cream, whipped cream ... the works. We shopped for the supplies and he was a happy camper.
He went into the kitchen and prepared his own. Out he came with a family size serving bowl of strawberry shortcake,
and ate the whole bowl. Better yet, he then complained of a tummy ache and wanted some Pepto.
Guess what he had for breakfast today? More strawberry shortcake.
HE won't gain an ounce either.
I told him it is time for him to start attending the support groups with me again. Not to change his eating habits exactly, but as a reminder of how his eating impacts me.
Jeepers, he was well trained for so long. Looks like I need to get out my whip and magic potions again.

Good morning Carla and friends.
Sunsets and sunrises over the water are beautiful. We've seen many of them while out fishing.
Not much new, I wore my heart monitor from Wed. morning to Thur. morning and returned it Thur. afternoon. During the 24 hours I wore the dang thing, I had no strange feelings, no flutters, no palpitations, no dizzy spells... Sat. morning I was so dizzy, I could hardly stand. It passed by noon, so we went to the Algiers River Festival for a little while. Mostly we sat in our chairs on the levee and listened to the great music. Ate some smoked brisket and turnip green. Sun. George went fishing - I didn't feel up to going, so stayed home and caught up with laundry and did some cooking between naps. I NEED SOME ENERGY!
Thursday morning around 4 we were awakened by flashing lights shining through our bedroom window. An ambulance was parked across the street. Our neighbor stumbled down the stairs and fractured her skull. Not sure if her dog caused her to stumble, if it was dizziness from the flu, or what. She was in ICU until yesterday afternoon. Couldn't spea****il Sat., but could at least move her arms and legs. She definitely has some injury to the brain - they don't know the extent, and she thinks the year is 1998. Please keep Leslie in your prayers. Her 8 year old son needs his mom.
