MRI WITH CONTRAST

You'll be ok Linda. I've had a bunch of ct scans and MRI's with the dye.  As they inject it you feel a very warm flush throughout your body but especially in the head and neck area, and you feel like you are going to pee but you don't of course. The feeling only lasts about 60 seconds or so. It does not make you sick or affect you in any other way. If you are allergic to shell fish you cannot do the dye, not sure of the reason for that. The dye must be made from shell fish pee or something.  HA HA!

Holy bat crap,I do have a mild allergy to shell fish!! I must tell them that, thanks Barb. I can eat a little shrimp, but no crab legs, nor lobster, maybe it is a minimal amount,or something else they can use.
Thank you for the info!

Aloha beautiful Linda.......Oh, please do not stress out over this. As the others have said, it is really easy and painfree. I had to have an MRI about a year ago, and also was stressed at the unknown. But, it was easy and very interesting actually.

Take all of us with you into the room and talk to us about the procedure......they might think you are nuts, but hey, if it helps, do it!! Ha!

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Linda
I had a CT scan last week with contrast.  It's no big deal.  The iodine will make you feel like you are peeing in your pants.  A little weired but not painful.  If they deliver the iodine slowly you will feel more of a warm feeling versus a peeing feeling.  My veins are tough to find and they roll and blow so this last scan the nurse that inserted the IV instructed the radiology tech to run the iodine slowly.  I had no problems and the peeing feeling didn't occur just a warmth.  My thoughts will be with you on Monday.

Thanks so much Linda. Now I have to find out if a mild allergy to shell fish is too much, there's alway something,as Gilda Radner used to say. I know I really need it,so I will go.

Linda....I haven't been on the boards since Friday morning do I just now heard about this MRI.

I hate the iodine too but have had them done several times myself. The warm sensation is strange....some people feel like they are wetting themselves....me ...I feel something more intense then that!!!!!!

I wish you the very best sweetie. My thoughts and prayers are with you....as always my dear friend.

Let us know how it goes....we are all concerned.

Much love...oodles of gentle hugs...Boo... to you!!
