Newly banded
Nancy,
I'm sorry you're struggling, but it will get better. What with the trauma of surgery, surgical swelling of your stomach, the effects of anesthesia (often makes me feel nauseated), throat irritation from being intubated, gas (they pump you full of gas during surgery, which can contribute to the burping), and pneumonia, you've got a lot going on.
Did your surgeon give you an RX for any anti-nausea meds like Phenergan? If not, you might want to give him a call.
Just keep sipping your liquids, and hang in there.

Hi Nancy,
Do you live alone? Part of what you are describing could be a fear and panic type of reaction. After major surgery it is common to feel somewhat frightened which in me becomes that sick feeling in the stomach. Pneumonia sure doesn't help. Try to relax- maybe a warm bath or relaxing tea. Also, a comedy on TV might help, or a phone call to someone calming. Talking about the feelings help too. I had RNY so I don't exactly know what the band feels like, but I'm sure it feels quite foreign and it will take time to get used to it. Keep coming back here- we'll hold your hand.

I just read your posts and replies I had my surgery on the 25th and this last weekend was not what I expected. I am having a hard time breathing and used the breathing gaget they gave me at the hospital . I have developed a cough and a nasal drip.... I went into this with a sinis infection the stragest thing is it seems to be letting loose now. Over the last couple of nights I would find myself trying to get comfortable and every once in while it seems I can't seem to get my lungs to fill up and stayed up watching TV until after 5 in the morning then I could sleep.
I don't know if this helps. But your in my prayers
