Linda,

I tried researching the milk thing on the Internet, found a lot of gibberish and 1 ongoing study of the issue (no results published yet).  Weight loss has definitely helped my diabetes.  Pre-op, my fasting blood sugar was 157 and my A1C was 7.4.  Now the readings are 103 and 5.7 and I take no diabetes meds.  But lately I've been low blood sugar symptoms after I work out in the morning (exercise does lower blood glucose).  So I'm experimenting with post-workout snacks.  My nutritionist recommends a snack combining a protein and a carb.  I tried eating a protein bar as a snack but it spikes my blood glucose.  Drinking skim milk (in a latte) seems to work better even though I'd been told that milk converts to sugar too quickly.  My special challenge is that my band is so tight in the morning that liquids are the only safe choice for me.

Jean, I know that milk can convert to sugar since there is natural sugar in it.

Good morning Linda & all,

Posting took too long yesterday. Today it seems back to normal.

There is a Maple Festival in a near by community. We have been there in other years so I KNOW the food will all be a no-no for me. Yum ... maple sugar, but none for me.

I have been adding some sweet potatoes to my menu lately. Tasty and nutritious.

B - cottage cheese, Kashi & berries
L - hot ham, green salad
D - not sure yet
S - apple & peanut butter

Hiya sis, mmmmm just the smell of maple drives me nuts. I lived in Massachusetts for almost 6 years, and I could not have been a good girl during those times...smile.
I hope you and your beloved enjoy your day,
Hugs!

Baked sweet potatoes with a little butter or butter substitute and cinnamon are wonderful!  The cinnamon brings out the flavor so well.  I had them at Logan's restaurant in Tennessee, and now I make them for myself all the time.

Yum-O!

Candy -

You are so right. Before ... I used to smother them in brown sugar. The only flavor was the brown sugar.

Good morning to you, our sweet Linda. I hope that this Saturday is good to you. I have a couple of chores to do but I think that most of the day is going to be spent not doing much. Neither one of us is feeling the greatest so we are going to hang around the house I think. After the couple of errands that we need to run.

Food today is going to be simple I think since I think that Harpo is rebelling against me again. Heck I hate it when he feels the need to re bell.
B: sf oatmeal with sunflower kernels
L: deli peppered turkey with cheese
D: not sure about that yet but something simple
S: don't know if there is going to be one today

Have a wonderful day and don't forget to smile that beautiful smile of yours. I am sending you lots of love and hugs and plenty of prayers go with that too. You remain in my prayers all the time......but you know that already.

Hi dear Brenda, thank you for the prayers, Does Harpo like peppers? You can go back to your posts and see something you have introduced in the past week or so?
I am keeping it simple today, very simple.
God bless you.
