Marylyn, I will probably do it later tonight since tomorrow is going to be another busy day. Not sure what I am going to do it on though..........got any ideas?

Brenda,
You just reminded me that I also wanted the RNY because of my diabetes.  I am also off all meds now.  Isn't it wonderful?  I'm still walking on that cloud.

Welcome & Congrats on your surgery date. Don't want to be a bearer of bad news, but, having the RNY or Band will change the way sweets react to your system. You need to change your thinking NOW & don't even go there after your surgery, You will most probably dump on sugar & once you do, you won't want to do it again. It's not fun!!
You will  need to eat very samll portions in the beginning & sugar or high fat content you won't likely  be able to handle. Just a warning. Not yelling, just trying to prepare you.
Big changes will occur wtih either surgery. You will need to change your thinking &
eating habits for the tools to work. The old habits haveto leave or the surgery whatever
you decide will not work forever.
Keep posting & we will try & help you mak the best decision for you!! Evryone is different.

Thank you for the welcome.  I have already started making changes.  I haven't had ice cream (my biggest weakness) in over 3 months and don't even really miss it.  Also had no fried foods in a couple of months.

Welcome, Mary! You're gonna love it here!

I'm also pre-op, going through my 6 mo diet requirement. Like some of the others I initially wanted the Band, the RNY just seemed too invasive. After going to the introductory seminar where I learned more about the differences in the surgeries, I was leaning more towards the RNY because of the amount of weight I need to lose. Two reasons I decided against the band was I didn't want to have to keep going for fills and adjustments for the band and I feel it would be too easy for me to cheat with the Band. I'm hoping I change my mental thinking to never do that but I know me! Then when I met with the surgeon he reinforced my thinking and we both decided that RNY would be best for me and my goals.

Good luck on your Journey!
